I bought this set for my two oldest girls ages 4 5, they LOVE the bed and so do I! It is very sturdy and not bulky. My brother and fiance put this together in about an hour, no issues what so ever. The fact that the beds can be separated into two twin beds is a huge plus. If taken care of properly Im sure these beds can last a long while or at least until the child out grows the bed. I purchased two regular twin size mattresses for the bunks, rather than getting a bunk bed mattress or cheap mattress that wouldnt last as long as a regular mattress. Great space between the two beds also, great investment and I highly recommend it!
I had purchased a twin over full for my kids but it was too large for the room. The boys though had a larger room so we moved that bed in their room and put this twin over twin in the girls room. It came earlier than expected. My youngest came in and said the beds on the front porch. SO we moved it in the house and in about 4 and a half hours wed taken the first apart, assembled the second and reassembled the first in the proper rooms. Fairly easy construction, the plastic pieces which snap in the top rails were a bear, but we used the flat side of a regular screwdriver and they popped right in.
Were all pleased. Great product for those that need it.
Well, the ladder is terrible the small diameter of the rungs cut into ones feet. So I bought a little stepladder to use instead, wrapping a towel around the top rung. And it tends to sway when moving around although it doesnt seem to be going anywhere. But the price was certainly right, and Id certainly rather have it than none at all.
No sooner did we get 2 sets of these bunk beds that I found Walmart sells the exact same thing for $149 online with free shipping to the store. I always thought was the best deal in town excluding maybe winning a low bid on eBay. Anyway, putting aside that we paid too much for the bunk beds on , they do require a full days work to assemble: seemingly hundreds of small, different sizes of everything. The instructions call for a 9 top bunk mattress which is clearly too high for absolute certainly the child would not roll over the rail. The bunk bed is sturdy and the side rails perfectly high enough when using a 6 top mattress.
I bought this bed for my daughter who is a little over 6. She shares a room with her brother and the 2 twin beds made the already tiny room ridicules to navigate so being able to shove one bed under another seemed like the perfect solution. I wanted the loft bed so that when they no longer want to share a room(they are sharing because they want to) I can take out his bed and my daughter will have a place for a desk or whatever underneath.
The bed came in the manufacturers box. The box came a little damaged but all the contents were fine. Beware if you dont have help to carry the box... it was a very long box and weighed 84 lbs according to the shipping label. It took both my husband and I to maneuver it upstairs mainly because it was so long.
My daughter and I (30 year old woman) put the bed together by ourselves. It took an hour and a half or so. It was very easy and the directions made complete sense. I would recommend 2 people to put it together because of the really long pieces. My daughter was the pieces holder so I could screw things together. Most of it can be assembled flat on the floor. They provide 2 allen wrenches which are the only tools needed for assembly. The small parts were very well packaged and it came with enough pieces.
The bed itself is very sturdy. It does wiggle a bit but not too much. Im sure the wiggle is mostly because the bed is on stilts. It in no way seems dangerous. It did come with 2 parts that were not explained but they seem to be pieces to bolt the bed to the wall. If I thought that was necessary I would have called the company to ask about them but it does not. The finish is excellent. Not too easy to scratch but I did manage to do some surface scratches while putting it together. The bed comes with 22 tubular metal slats for the mattress to sit on, very sturdy! Pay attention to the mattress thickness limit (I think it is 9). Our mattress is 10. The thicker the mattress, the shorter the guardrail that keeps your child from falling out! That said, there is still 5 of rail above her mattress I feel comfortable with that. From the floor to the bottom of the mattress platform is 55.5 so add on the thickness of your mattress and that is about how high off the floor your child will be. In my opinion, it is almost too high but Im getting used to it.
The only bad thing I have to say about the bed is that the ladder is very tough on feet! The rungs are too narrow and they are round. In one of the reviews for the same bed with a different configuration someone suggested using water pipe insulation to pad the rung. They cut the insulation to fit and wrapped it with duct tape to hold it on. EXCELLENT idea. I put double stick tape on the rungs, covered the insulation with some hot pink pleather fabric (to make it cuter) then just slipped it over. Perfect.
(if you want more advice check out other reviews for the same bed but a different configuration because mine is the first review for this loft bed)

Sunset Metal Twin/Loft Bunk Bed
My son is very happy with this item. It arrived earlier than it was supposed to and is very nice.
I just love loft beds/even this one

Why pay more when you can get it for less?
