Decided to get this desk for our 5 year old son as he loves to sit and color, practice letters and work on projects. I LOVE how the top lifts up and has a storage area beneath. It is adorable. It is a nice quality little desk. It took my husband about an hour give or take to put together, Im sure he took some breaks. He did have a difficult time when assembling the chair/ reported to me that the ss didnt fit perfectly and resulted in damage to the bottom of the chair. Luckily the damage will not affect the usage of the chair, but still frustrating. This desk matches perfectly in our sons room with white furniture. Its a bit smaller than I expected but he sits at it perfectly and enjoys having it in his bedroom.
Okay so Ive read all of the reviews and I provided feedback directly to Kidcraft manufacturing. I bought this desk for my daughter and she loves it. After reading the reviews I made two engineering changes and learned a valuable piece of information I need to share youll be happy with this product.
First many of the negative reviews were about the chair falling apart. I see why this can happen. When assembling the chair seat to the back leg assembly you will s to long ss connecting the two pieces. Ive included two pictures. There is still a space by design between the back leg assembly and the chair top. If you tighten too much you can break the wood horizontal support on the chair top assembly. An easy way to prevent that is to add 1/4 thick grommets or washers between the gap. You could also use a wood shim but its not as nice. This way when you tighten the ss you dont over stress the wood support. Do this and your chair will be solid and will not break apart. I also use wood glue when assembling the pieces.
The second piece of important information is when assembling the ss referred to by the letter T. These are the ss that connect the table top to the base. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. if you do youll hear a crack as the s snaps through the surface laminate and you will have 6 bumps on the tabletop. What I would do is put an adhesive like locktite on the s threads and hand tighten the ss into the desktop. So so so important, trust me. This will keep the ss tight while not destroying the table top.
I hope this helps and I think youll be happy overall with the desk.

Well made and easy to assemble
Very nice little desk. Incredibly easy to assemble. I like how clean it looks and that I can hide all the papers on the desk when theyre not coloring.
Perfect!!!!
Well made. Perfect design.
If you are planning on buying this its great but a few words of wisdom.
