When you get this in a box it is heavy. I found getting it out of the box is tricky. You have to open the end and pour it out. We did so very carefully, so nothing fell out of the package. Others may not be so careful.
However on inspecting all the parts, which are handled very nicely in the manual, I noticed one of the parts was damaged (picture included) and sadly this is an exterior part so this is visible after assembly. I’m including photos. Had this not been a Vine item, I would have asked for a replacement.
I noted that it expects you to bring your own tools, but did provide an allen wrench, which I never found the need to use and the flat wrench for the wheels. That was necessary.
First I put everything out on the floor, after removing an incredible amount of styrofoam.
Accounted for all the parts and noted the damaged one. (picture showing it before assembled and after).
This took one fairly skilled person about an hour to do on their own. Lots of parts. It went smoothly for the most part.
I took a picture in the manual where assembly was difficult. These little metal parts with a U in them, were not shaped so they fit flat on the wood. Besides that the screw holes in the particle board versus the metal were slightly mismatched. In each case (3), the metal was wider than the wood.
Also on the bottom drawer the handle screws bottomed out in the handle before they were a snug fit. As the other two were fine, I can only blame the handle. But both screws had this issue. I can probably add a washer to make up for this. It isn’t that loose, that it is critical however.
In all except where noted the assembly went well. The drawers seem solid enough for long term use. Only major ding was damaged corner.
Assembly took longer than expected; packaging of parts ejected dust and styrofoam beads all over our living area.
The instructions for the bottom drawer assembly and rails were incorrect, leaving our drawer to stick out at the end of the build. Had to disassemble and reposition the drawer railings twice to end up with a bottom drawer flush with the rest of the unit.
The bottom drawer doesnt have complete siding and can really only be used as a hanging document drawer. Bottoms of the two smaller drawers dont feel completely sturdy.
Otherwise, gets the job done.
I bought this to match other furniture. However, being handy with assembling furniture, this took a very long time and not worth it. Made of particle board with a laminate, I am not comfortable with the security of the screws. It otherwise came well packaged with detailed instruction
Two people, two hours and one blister later… the lock is useless. I could rip it open if I wanted to. Very cheap. Looks decent but would not trust anything import in there.
This file canibet is fine, but after receiving the item I wonder if it really had to be so expensive. Its just a file cabinet. About $300 per item would be more reasonable on restrospect. The cabinet is too heavy for me to move upstairs or return back after having lost the packing box material. I am stuck with the item in my garage where the delivery person left it. I am using it, but I dont think this was one of my wise choices online.
The product is great. The packaging is a joke. I cannot believe that everything was accounted for and there was no scratches or marks on it. Check out the pictures on how it arrived. Looks like they just threw it all in a box and put some bubbly on top
It is cheap quality but works for what I needed it for. A few of the twist nuts that hold together parts of it brok when turned far enough to lock in place. It was easy to assemble.
This filing cabinet is pretty nice and the instructions make assembly quite easy. However I did notice that once the cabinets are filled the locking mechanism does not work as well. It jams or one it locks it gets stuck. I dont know if its due to the weight of things stored in the drawers (just files and office supplies). If anyone knows a troubleshooting tip Id be appreciative. I still like these cabinets

Rating is due to damaged corner. Otherwise it seems pretty solid and usable.

Takes time to assemble
Comes in a box of unending number of pieces. Very time consuming to assemble but overall is a very nice piece for the money.
Read Instructions Carefully - Be Prepared to Do Over

Three Stars
LOTS of little pieces. Took talented handyman 2 hours to assemble.
OK product but too expensive. Too heavy to return.

Great product. Horrible packaging.

Easy put together, but locks are wonky
