I really love this desk! I was looking for a writing desk that also looked . I actually found this desk on Walmarts website but I have had bad delivery experiences ordering through them before so I checked to see if I could find something similar. I found the exact same one for the same price!
Delivery was quick! It arrived 2 days early.
The box had dents and scrapes but the desk was packaged very well and there was no damage at all.
I was nervous to put it together because of the reviews saying how long it takes to assemble and the crooked drawer/handle.
Assembly took a little over 2 hours to do by myself. I probably could have assembled it quicker if my 3 year old would have left mommy alone
I gave 4 stars for easy to assemble just because the instructions were not very clear. I spent a lot more time than necessary trying to figure out the sliding bracket placement on the wood. The instructions said not to use a drill, only a Phillips head screwdriver. I did use my power drill on the sliding brackets, slowly and carefully and had no issues.
The package came with plenty of hardware to assemble. If there werent enough pieces in the designated bag there were more in the extras bag.
If you are interested in this table, dont be swayed by the negative reviews. I dont like assembling things and Im definitely not great with tools but it really wasnt difficult to put together by myself. It is very solid and I love the height of it! My bed sits very high and I can use the desk as a night stand too! Overall very happy with this product!
Once you finish assembling the desk, it looks almost exactly as pictured in the ad. As other reviewers stated, there is so much more hardware than expected and it is time consuming to put together. Also like others who have purchased this desk, we found it very difficult to get the drawer to line up evenly on both sides but for the quality of the desk, the gap is not that big of a deal. The only feature I really disliked was a set of stickers that attempt to match the color and grain of the white/washed wood to cover up screws and other hardware. These are on the undersides for the most part so they arent noticeable, thank goodness since they barely stick. Nevertheless, as long as the top doesnt turn out to scratch easily, we are pleased with this purchase.
Directions were easy to follow and well marked. The product itself is well made. There was one issue where one piece was not pre/drilled for the slide assembly.. but it aligned with the other and just copied. Otherwise.. easy to put together.
I was initially scared about what I had purchased after reading more reviews indicating the assembly was difficult. It wasnt. In fact, its very straight/forward! It did take me about 1.5 / 2 hours to put it together but thats simply because there are many parts and steps. The steps are really well thought out though as you prep each piece before putting everything together. If you can follow Lego or IKEA instructions, youll be good to go. If you are one of those people though who dont read directions and just start putting things together, youre in for it.
I knocked off one star because I did have an issue with the track system going in opposite because the illustration didnt provide enough detail on which end should go in which direction, but it was luckily easy enough to take off and turn around when it was time to put the drawer in.
The wood is not solid wood, but heavy/duty MDF (I believe). Everything is nice and tight once put together. It looks great and Im glad I went with it!
