This bed has been a total game changer.
First of all, it has revolutionized the space in my room. As I type this review, Im lounging on a bean bag under my bed, and more than half of my floor is wide open space. This is a complete change from before, when I had a skinny path to navigate around my bed. I had no room to relax except for on my bed, which wasnt conducive to studying, either
Additionally, as someone who has ADHD and struggles with executive dysfunction as a baseline, I love not being able to fling my clothes (and backpack, and books, and packages, and mail, etc, etc, etc) on the bed and forget about them. My bed is strictly for sleeping now, and Im surprised at how much of a difference its made to my mental health and my sleep schedule.
Assembly: Manageable with two people. It took a couple hours to get it unpacked, put together, and get the mattress up. Not bad at all so long as youve got a helper and space. Tighten the screws periodically to keep the frame sturdy and solid.
Style: The bed frame is magnetic! So Ive got magnets for decoration and have used shower curtain hangers to add functionality. Ive got my mail sorter hung on hooks and plan to hang some art in a similar fashion so I can avoid putting nails in the wall. Ive also got cute string lights set up!
Comfort: The only uncomfortable thing about this bed is the ladder. Its straight vertical and the rungs dont allow for much weight distribution at all. High density foam pipe covers blend in and make the steps bearable. The bed feels a little shaky the first few times you climb up and down but after using it for a few weeks I dont notice anymore.
Price: I finally pulled the trigger on buying this bed after months of planning and research. This model was the highest rated, full/sized, /framed, under/300 bed I could find. I waited to buy it until after college move in season. (The price was temporarily inflated; if youre thinking about buying this bed, consider the time of year and plan accordingly.)
Misc: I have a very tall mattress that rises above the safety rails, but I have not had a problem with the edge. I do recommend checking how close you will be to the ceiling, because it was a little closer than I expected. Still, dont regret buying this bed at all. Worth every penny and more.
Also, while the bed holds up to shaking from rigorous activity and vibration, the frame does make noise, so if youve got roommates, be careful. I like it.
Wasnt too bad to put it together. Too about an hour to assemble. Went together easy and all the holes lined up perfectly. You cant really use power tools to put it together as the tolerances dont allow for the right angles unless you were to use a swivel.
Quality seems decent for the price. Once its all assembled it feels sturdy. Make sure to tighten it well. Its pretty hard to strip it out if youre tightening it because it will start to bend the before it starts to strip out. I had no problems at all and didnt have any of the bolts stripped out.
if you have any problems with stability you can always go to the hardware store and get some pipe strap fastener brackets that are used for pipes to secure them to walls and doing so will prevent it from moving at all and will hold it nice and tight against the wall. Make sure you align it with a stud so it doesnt pull out of the wall. if you cant hit a stud then you can always get a piece of 1X4 board and screw it to the studs in your wall and then attach the fastener to it but place it up near the top of the bunk so the bed hides it. Thats just a suggestion if youre too worried about lack of sturdiness but seems pretty sturdy to me. When I purchased it cost around 150 after taxes. Beautiful!!
Alot more space underneath than I thought! My 8 yr old loves it. My husband and I put it together in just over an hour. 1 screw hole was not cut all the way and we had to try and. Real a tiny peice off to get the screw in, but we were able to without much effort. Pretty sturdy bed.
Only thing I dont like is how thin the ladder steps are. A little unpleasant walking up them, so we plan on cutting some pool noodles to place around them.
Fast shipping, right on time. Would purchase this product again. It feels great.
I like this bed for the price and my daughter loves it but it was a pain to assemble and the holes did not match up. Some of the bolts ended up stripping or wouldnt screw in all the way because they didnt line up with the precut holes they had in the beams. Had to replace some of these bolts before use. You definitely get what you pay for with this bed. Otherwise, its cute and if you can get it together and bolted correctly, its sturdy enough for a child. My 7 year old is over the moon about it, which is all that matters to me. Good quality.
So reading the other reviews and reading the instructions all the way through first helps a lot. I put this bed together by myself in about less than 2 hours. The other reviews and the instructions both point out DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS TILL ITS ALL TOGETHER.
And thats true! I put it together by myself with it laying down first, keeping about a 1/4 slack with every bolt. When it was time to put the mattress slats on, I grabbed the back bar and the front bar and lifted it up. Im 56 and have fairly strong upper body strength (carried the box from the UPS truck on my shoulder because I was tired of seeing the driver sliding it across the floor banging into everything in the back of his truck) and it was wobbly. So I put the slats in, locked them in place with the plastic tabs in the kit, and then tightened every bolt finger tight. Went back through with a hex key socket and ratchet and tightened them up further. NOT TOO TIGHT! We are using an 8 memory foam mattress that we picked up from walmart that was in a box. Opened box and bag up, let sit for 6 hrs and it was at full thickness. Not too thick for this bed frame that my 11 y/o will roll over the rails.
Figured Ill keep updating this as the year goes on. No squeaks, not wobbly, very well made. Next week I was planning on taking each bolt out at a time and adding blue lock/tite to each one and putting it back in tight to keep anything from shaking loose but I might not have too. Will be using either pool noodle or foam pipe insulation on the ladder. Pics will be up soon when hes not actually sleeping in it. Working well.
The bed was very easy to assemble. I did it alone, and it took me about 2 hours. One suggestion, dont tighten ther screws. Once its fully assembled, use loctite glue and tighten everything completely. I would definitely recommend this loft bed. Exactly as Described.
