This was a great buy. The table is level and sturdy and fits perfectly in my small living room. The color was also exactly as I expected. I was able to assemble it myself with no help. Came with all the pieces and extra screws.
As promised in the title here are some tips for assembly. CHECK TIPS 4 AND 5 IF YOU WANT EASY ASSEMBLY.
1. Do yourself a favor and let your cat play with the box while you build.
2. Use several bowls to keep your screws organized while you build. Dont open the screws until you need to. I had one extra for every type of screw except screw G which had exactly the right amount.
3. Use a magnetic screw driver especially for the spring hinge mechanism. I also used an electric screw driver (not a drill) for screw G and screwing the top onto the hinge.
4. To easily and SAFELY attach the spring to the hinge mechanism. Thread a sturdy cord through one end of the spring (I used a phone charging cable that doesnt work anymore). Attach the other end of the spring to one of the pegs on the hinge mechanism. Pull on the cord to stretch the spring onto the other peg.
5. Follow the assembly instructions in the EXACT order they are given if you want your table to be level. Specifically when you are attaching the legs to the table. The instructions have you screw in the legs from bottom to top on one side. And from top to bottom on the other side. The order matters
6. When your table is finished remember that the springs are still new and extra tight so I advise that you only open the table toward yourself until the springs relax.
I like this coffee table! The directions recommended 2 people, but I didnt have a second person Advice: Get a 2nd person for the top of the coffee table, not easy by yourself. The only major issue I have with this, is when you lift the table top to access the compartment, it does not open evenly. You have to lift both sides simultaneously, instead of being able to open from the middle. But, I found a way to fix that, and I added a hidden lock to make it more of a secret compartment.
This coffee table is just right for a small apartment, and its sturdy. The lift top is very useful to eat dinner, or use for a small workspace.
The challenge is the instructions. They are pictures, without any written explainations. I read the booklet and wasnt sure of several of the steps. So called a friend who is a woodworker and assembles things often. It took 2.5 hours to get the table put together. There werent mistakes, its just the instructions lack details, and language to explain the pictures.
So yes, Id order the table, along with a phone call to someone skilled to put it together.
Excellent value for the money. Took a little bit of time to put together but I wanted to make sure everything lined up correctly. If you rush it youll get it wrong. If you have put together other furniture before you know that you dont tighten all screws until each one is halfway in place. If everything lines up then you tighten. Thats why everyone is getting it wrong. Perfectly happy with this purchase. Its pretty heavy and sturdy.
I love the fact that you can hide things in the top of the table. I have young grandchildren who cant reach my remotes, books etc. they dont know about it. Its my little secret

A little complex assembly but works great
The lift top raises to a good hight and theres enough space inside for several board games

Writing this with my feet on this solid table! A great buy that has withstood not so gentle treatment.
Good buy but tricky to put together
Sturdy table but directions were difficult to follow. I made a couple mistakes but it was easily fixable.
