I just put these together. My husband is working out of town so my only help was my 4 and 2 year old kids. I wanted to get them together as 2 twin beds, not a bunk bed just yet. After reading reviews I was a bit worried about it, I shouldnt have been. I laid everything out first, made sure I had everything, then got started. Everything fit well, no mis/drilled holes, nothing out of whack. The only time I found anything a little off, it was my fault for having the board the wrong direction. There are subtle differences, so if something is off, you most likely just have the wrong piece or its turned the wrong way. As I said, very subtle differences between the top and bottom set at times, pay close attention and youll be fine. It was solid before I started on the slates, and once I screwed every individual slate down, both ends (as per the instructions), Im pretty sure this thing will survive a natural disaster. This is a very sturdily built, and very nice looking, bed set. There is almost a foot of clearance between the bottom of the mattress and the floor (on both beds), plenty of room for storage (if you have less you put it together wrong). I managed to put it together alone (barring some occasional toddler assistance). If I was going to stack them into bunks Id need help (grown/up help for that) They are heavy. It came in 2 boxes, or Id have had to break it down in the yard and haul it in that way, as it was one box (the smaller one) was actually difficult to get up the stairs, heavy and awkward. painted surface is also very nicely done, smooth and polished, very durable, no chipping or scratches, and feels like it would take a little work to damage. This does not look or feel like a cheap set. I couldnt be more thrilled with this set. This set is built to last.
I was really impressed by this bed, especially for the low price. It was kind of a pain to put together // not particularly difficult, but it took me and my boyfriend several hours. Between the wood and several metal braces, the beds feel very sturdy, though, and they look great.
This bed is aming. It looks just like the picture and its sturdy as all get out. I had all the pieces and equipment I needed except a power drill. The only problems I have are the labels for the individual parts should all come properly labeled, if they were properly labeled I would have been able to complete the peoject in 2 hours instead of 4.
The bed is nice and sturdy, well worth the money. It took a friend and I 1/1/2 hours to assemble it. I am not sure why so many people say it takes 4 hours. We accomplished this in short time even though there were no instructions, which is annoying. The only other problem is that one of the headboards arrived cracked, still usable but I am going to have the company send me a new one. All in all, great bed for the money, and I am a carpenter and very picky.
For the quality and smanship, the price was worth it.
It looks great. My nephew loved it. I would recommend it to a friend.
Build Time: approximately 3 hours with two people.
Tools Required: phillips screwdriver and an allen wrench. The allen wrench is provided, but it is slow and hard to use on some pieces. If you have an adjustable electric driver and some allen bits, you could probably reduce the build time to 2 or even 1.5 hours.
Pros /
[1] / Includes allen key
[2] / Fairly easy to build with decent instructions
[3] / Sturdy with good quality materials
[4] / The wood stain was evenly spread, it covered the boards on all visible edges and I didnt notice any globs or thin spots. Better then more expensive furniture I have bought in the past.
[5] / There are a decent number of slats, they are strapped together, and you screw them into the base. As long as your kid isnt using the bed as a trampoline, you probably dont need a base board. Please judge this based on your own kids rambunctiousness. I would also consider weight factor, a base board might be a good idea if multiple kids will be sleeping on the same bed.
Cons /
[1] / Absolutely no extra screws / bolts / nuts / etc. If you lose a piece, well. oops[2] / There were minor scrapes and blemishes through the stain, that were poorly covered up, but mostly in low visibility areas.
[3] / There is no way to put the ladder on the other side of the bed, so be sure to check that it will fit in the room you want it in.
[4] / The vertical cross/members on the top bedrails are screwed in, the placement on the boards were marked by tape, but we didnt realize why it was there, so it got peeled off prior to putting those pieces together. If this happens to you, there are tiny little holes where you are supposed to start the screws. In my opinion this was the hardest part of putting the bed together, as we put two of the three boards upside down at first. A simple, this side up sticker, wouldve been nice.
[5] / Some of the holes had some leftover sawdust or putty left in them. This prevented some bolts from threading until we noticed the foreign substance blocking the threads. We quickly picked up on this and made sure to clear the holes with the bolt, prior to putting the pieces together.
Well made and good quality for the price. Great color as well as not too high off the ground for little ones. I love that it can be separated into two twins as for the moment that is all I needed
We just got these bed yesterday and put them together immediatelyWe LOVE them. They are perfect for our two boys. We are currently using them as two twin beds, but I can not wait to be using it as a bunk bed when we feel they are ready
After reading some of the reviews, the company has made changes.
The bed came in two boxes, and packaged very good.
UPS had no problem dropping it off.
I had no smell of harsh stain, the bed is solid and was easy to put together.
If you look at the directions and layout all your parts before you start, it should take you about two hours to put together.
Still parts are not marked very well, Company should take the time to put numbers on the parts.
Four bed post for bottom bed are longer than the top, so to give more head room.
Again put all your parts out together, before you start putting the bed together.
We LOVE these bedsWe recently purchased a set of these bunk beds for each of our kids. I was nervous because when I was reading reviews, I read that the beds were rickety and not well made, but some offered that they were nice. I must say that the people writing that they are rickety must have put them together wrongOurs are VERY sturdy and well made. They are solid, nice, sturdy wood and very nice looking. My kids LOVE them. The pictures they have on here do not do them justice. They took approximately 4 hours for my husband and his friend to build TWO sets of the bunk beds. I would recommend these to all of my friends, and I have been!
