The screw holes for the diagonal braces were drilled too small for the included screws. Also, only 3 of the 4 holes were drilled on the correct side, the 4th hole was on the opposite, wrong side so I could only use one brace. Also, you need a cordless drill for the screw holes that connect the top and bottom sections because the little screwdriver/hex wrench supplied w/ the product does not allow sufficient torque to get the screws in. Have a cordless drill w/ correct hex head and a phillips head. Couldnt return item because I ordered it for my mom who lives out of town and by the time I was able to get to it and discovered the poor machining, oops, too late!, But despite this the company was willing to work w/ me and refunded the entire purchase price. Would recommend the company and suggest the cordless drill. I doubt that the predrilled holes are wrong on other units, just my bad luck to get one where one hole was located incorrectly. Looks good, sturdy.

I was so impressed with the sturdiness that I ended up placing one in the kitchen. Like some other reviews state the holes are tight but that is a good thing because it adds to the sturdiness of the shelves. It was not hard assembling the product one we caught on with making sure the screws were going in straight it was smooth sailing.
This bookcase is really Nice looking. I use it for display in bedroom for pictures and photo books. The dark brown and black shelves are really nice. Its about 6 ft. tall pretty strong and durable, I do not have to use the anchors, (which I did not want to because I may move it around). It is pretty heavy, I would definitely purchase again, my husband put it together because I wanted to make sure it was sturdy, done right, and it is.
Installation instructions not up to date. The hex screwdriver which came with it wore out before I was able to complete the installation so I recommend having a backup tool. Product quality is good and at a reasonable price.

The parts were inadequate and I had to buy bolts to replace the screws!!!
