Bought this as an extra bunk bed to have at a ski condo. We just put this bed together and it took my wife and myself about 1.5 hours to do so. I used a cordless drill with the correct bit. Doing so will save you a ton of time vs using the allen wrench provided. It comes in a single box that is very heavy (guessing 180+ pounds), so make sure you have two able bodied people to move it. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is due to the supporting slats for the mattresses. They are too far apart and anyone over 100 pounds will cause them to sag and the mattress to push through. Specs say it will hold someone up to 250 lbs but I wouldnt trust that. I am going to add extra half inch x 6 inch pine boards to make a better platform for the mattress and make me feel better about someone heavy getting on the beds. Other than that it seems like a great deal. Went together without a hitch, the all the hardware is solid and holes all lined up. We are thinking about getting another one due to the great price and free shipping with Prime.
I would probably give this bed 4 1/2 stars if I could. But its definitely closer to 5 than to 4!
I love this bed. I have been considering and looking for several months for beds for my 3- and 5-year-olds when it occurred to me that we could just buy a bunk bed and use it as two beds! Then, if we decide to turn it into a bunk bed later, we can. I wanted a bed that was sturdy, but not too expensive, and that would match the nightstand in their room. After reading a lot of reviews on other beds, we decided to go with this one.
The bed arrived quickly because we live in Utah (it shipped from Salt Lake) and arrived in a day. The box was HEAVY, but my husband brought it in with a dolly.
My husband assembled it without any trouble. My girls were able to help him and he was able to get both beds done in two evenings (after work and before kiddos go to bed). He didnt have any major issues and it was helpful that he had good power tools to help move the project along more quickly. He did have to finish assembling it in the girls room because their doorway wasnt quite wide enough to bring the assembled single beds in.
I have two small complaints, and I read other people mention these as well. 1, it DID smell a little bit like varnish. We put an air purifier in their room, though, and it took care of the smell in about 3 days. Airing out the room would probably have worked, too (but it was too smoky outside to open windows). 2, the slats WERE a little far apart. Id suggest either a bunkie board, a piece of plywood, or having a couple more slats made to go in the bed. We chose the later and with the two extra slats, they were spaced about 6 inches apart.
I loooooove the storage space under the beds! I can put boxes under there for stuffed animals or clothes, AND my girls can fit under there without getting stuck (yeah, I gave up on trying to keep my kids from hiding under the bed). Theres probably 15 or 16 inches of space. Its really great. And again, I love that the bed is sturdy. And its really beautiful. The color is between the espresso (the color we ordered) and cherry, so it ended up perfect for us.
For $160 per bed vs. $500 per bed at the store, this was definitely a big win for us. Love it love it!
Shipping from came very quick. The bunk bed came in one long box, and wasnt as big as I thought it would be. All the parts were there. Just be careful not to lose a screw, or bolt because you get the exact amount of hardware that is needed to complete the project. It was very easy to build using the instructions given. One person can put this together except for putting the top bunk on the bottom bunk. That will require two people. It will also require a power drill to drill the screws in the slat boards to the actual bunks. Other than that nothing else is needed as it comes with all the tools and hardware needed. My kids love it very much. Wood did not have bad fumes to it at all. I read a review that it did so I opened it up to air out and it just smelled like wood. Great product and came as advertised and this was one of the only beds that nothing negative was said about it.
Love it, it wasnt to hard to put together, took me most of Saturday but it was pretty simple to do. The kids absolutley love it and I liked the way the dark finished look.
The price was just right for this beautiful bed. My kids loved it.
It was pretty easy to build. I especially love the color. The picture desnt do it justice.
As with may of the other reviewers, I researched and read reviews all over the web when I was shopping for bunk beds for my young boys. I was really happy when the beds were delivered within just a few days, but the box is SUPER heavy! They were not so much difficult to put together because of the pieces or directions, but the alignment of the holes and parts were WAY off. It was really frustrating to assemble because we had to drill several new holes in the wood to attach pieces. We had to disassemble whole parts of the bed and go back to previous steps in the directions because holes and hardware were not fitting together properly.
Now that the beds are put together I love the way they look and it looks like a nice quality bed that feels sturdy for my sons to sleep in. I am a bit concerned with the slats not being close enough together, because when I made the bed the other day and went to climb down the ladder - the weight of my knee pushed the mattress down between the slats. A friend suggested putting a piece of plywood under the mattress, and I will probably end up doing that for extra support. So, they are good beds but they come with some issues!
Quick Shipping. Appears sturdy as the description noted (These need to hold teen boys). Several of the pieces were broken so called customer service and they shipped the replacement pieces out quickly as well. I researched bunks quite a bit and for the price these seem to be one of the better options. Not all of them tell you the how much weight they can hold and are not as sturdy of construction. If ordered through the cost was a little lower and free shipping.
We got this bed for our 2 year old. Its a very nice looking bed, very classy.
So far Ive only put together the top portion of the bed and my son uses it. It seems quite sturdy so far. I put it together alone in about an hour. The color is very nice, Id somewhere between an Espresso and a Dark Cherry.
After months of research, we finally decided to risk it and purchase this bunk bed via internet. Although it was a great price, we were very disappointed when we opened the box. Most of the pieces came with gashes, chips, large small cracks, sunken holes -- you name it. Not only that, but we felt deceived in that all of the solid wood is really pieces of wood glued together. There are no solid boards with single, solid pieces of wood. Its wood thats been sandwiched together with glue. To me, that speaks to a poorer quality than something that is truly solid wood. OK, then there was the toxic smell. Geez, you better let the bed air out (gas out) in the garage or something for a few weeks before exposing your child to it and having them breathe that all night long. So, the company we bought this bed through was very nice and had the manufacturer re-send us some of the pieces that were in the worst shape. Unfortunately, it appears that the manufacturer doesnt care much and sent us new pieces with just-as-obvious large defects. I would have hoped that they would have taken a bit of care to do some quality control. Apparently, thats not what they do. If you want a nice, clean wood bunk bed with no defects, you better look elsewhere. The price is tempting, but you wont be pleased with all of its defects.
I got this product and started assembling ....... quickly realized one leg (leg B) is missing and called customer service and they shipped missing piece. I wish more sturdy wood.

Bought to use as two separate beds - sturdy and beautiful!
