You get what you pay for. Meaning, you will have to work to put this together, but after it is all said and done, it looks great. You can secure the slats if you want. I didnt and I havent had any issues with it. Not recommended to stuff the drawers as they are fragile, but it does the job if you keep it light. I love the fame and the extra storage.
So this was not as difficult as everyone who wrote critical and downright abusive reviews.
It did take a lengthy time (4-4.5 hours) to put together and assemble (with modification) but it was absolutely worth it. The parts will come in three different shipments and it took only a week for all three packages to get to my house. There was enough packing that the wood laminate parts were not defective, broken, or chipped; they actually came in good condition!
The one that gave me some hesitance in ordering was when people in their reviews were complaining that none of the parts were labeled... and seriously? You would have to be a brain dead idiot to not follow the directions and match up the correlating parts. People also complained that the parts werent separated and just in a big bag- people just need to put on their big boy pants and understand that this is a $300 bed and you get what you pay for. Assembly is required and I actually enjoyed it.
Tips for the perspective buyer that are hesitant on purchasing this bed:
1. DO NOT TIGHTEN ALAN SCREWS SO TIGHT THAT THE WOOD CHIPS- this material that the bed is made out of is laminate particleboard.
2. Take your time. Yes all the parts are there do not worry. You will actually have 1 extra of each hardware piece.
3. DO NOT reinforce or add brackets until you are at the steps where you add the wood slats. There needs to be some give for the drawers to be able to close properly.
4. BUY AN IMPACT DRILL. This will take your time for assembly and cut it in half. Yes you could in theory assemble this entire thing with a screw driver and you will have blistered your hands up and taken hours.
5. If you want to cut down on the creaks from the boards, I went to Lowes and purchased a 8x6 really thin indoor/outdoor carpet and wrapped each of the 12 slats in it and then screwed the carpet in at the ends. I also did not want the slats to move so I wrapped the ends in carpet as well. It will fit into the brackets on the headboard and foot board and be snug and tight and will not move.
6. Lastly what I did, I added little 2x2 L brackets to the each joint, and they have to be lower than the drawer glides when you put them on but this adds more stability. I have myself and my wife and my two golden retrievers and we all have been on the bed at the same time at night and it holds up and literally makes 0 noise.
My wife and I were looking for a lower bed because we were so used to being a good 3 feet up in the air on our older mattress, box spring and 18 in high bed frame. This was the perfect solution as it not only added extra storage space but it is actually nice. We also purchased the matching headboard... and other customers are correct, it doesnt match up perfectly up to it, you have roughly about a 1 gap between the bed and the headboard but once you put pillows and a mattress there.. there should be no issues.
I really just wanted to explain that the critical reviews on this item are seriously from people who must have 0 imagination and 0 skills with a screw driver. The instructions do come with lots of pictures and offers you very straight forward instructions on how to assemble this.
I recommend this bed for anyone who want to purchase a good looking, relatively cheaper alternative to a $3-4000 bed with the same function. This does require assembly and patience but it is very doable.
Its a really good bed. We like it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars its because some parts of the manual is confusing. Assembling it was so easy once you figure it out though. Overall were happy with this purchase.
Im giving this extra long twin bed an excellent rating for many reasons! It was super easy to put together, extremely sturdy and it was promptly shipped. I was very impressed with how this item was packed very tightly and secure. The bed is extremely sturdy and well built. I was pleasantly surprised by its sturdiness and how well it all fit together once it was completed. Just really an all around great deal in price and quality. I also bought the matching end table and chest drawers and am just as pleased. By the way, no need for box spring mattress or bunky board for the bed. The six slats provided are strong enough to hold a memory foam without any sinking.Great buy! Great deal!
With the modifications that were described in one of the reviews, it was rock solid stable. Definitely a large project to put together and is very helpful to have a second set of hands.
So far so good! Reinforced with wood glue and corner brackets. Luckily I did not misplace any hardware as they only give you enough to complete! No more, no less. I did take long to build but well worth it.

My son really likes the bed, especially with the 6 drawers that it comes with. It gives him storage for all of this stuff.
