I ordered this full size bed and storage headboard for my teen daughter. It took my sister and I about 4 and 1/2 hours to assemble them, following the directions exactly. The bed and storage headboard are sturdy, very heavy when constructed. The only concern I have is how much weight the drawers will hold, as the bottoms are not of a sturdy material. All things considered, the bed looks nice and neat, and is great for a teenager.
This bed took me 8 hours to set up but in the end, it was worth it and my wife loved it too. I followed the instruction and built myself a beautiful bed with 6 drawers. There was no problem at all, very sturdy and beautiful. Remember, you must follow the instruction very carefully and look at the picture to confirm what youre doing is right because every piece has a place. Those who said the holes are misaligned, they actually misread the instruction and did it wrong.
The color of this bed frame is darker than the picture showed online but it looks nice. The carboard of the drawers are fragile. One of the drawers fell apart when I assembled it and I could hardly use it.
I put this bed together myself. It took a while but It turned out great. I followed the modifications to reinforce the crossbeams/frame. Be careful when assembling the drawers because the wood is thin and can easily crack. Using a drill can save time but I would NOT recommend it because of the soft material. I purchased this along with the Tall Double/Queen Storage Headboard, Espresso to match. I like this combination more than the one it suggested and it looked better with a box spring + mattress. Between my husband and I who are both over 6 feet and combined weigh over 450 lbs this bed has held up perfectly. Those who have had trouble with crooked drawers. Try straitening out the frame by picking up one end and setting it down gently. Do NOT try to scoot or slide the frame, it will become distorted and cause the drawers not to fit correctly. once in place, screw in corner brackets to keep it secure.
Advice: use the recommended bed modifications, take your time with the drawers, and make sure the frame is straight.
UPDATE: I have now had the bed two years and it has held up great. No structural issues and no creaking.
This bed is perfect for for my very tall son. He wanted more room in his bedroom, so we sold his old bed and ordered this in XL Twin. Easy to put together, did it in about 1 hour with help of my daughter. Directions were very clear and easy to follow. This will work for my son for the next four yrs of high school.
This bed was very easy for us to assemble. We also got a headboard and were able to assemble the headboard and base of the bed in a couple hours one night, saving the drawers for the following day. The instructions were easy to follow and considering the amount of pieces it came in, it went very fast! All of the holes lined up well. We had a problem with some of the drawers not being completely square/ but Im willing to accept that as our fault.
We love it, its sturdy, it stores a lot, and looks like it cost more than it did
The bed is more or less attractive, relatively simple to assemble, utilitarian without being plain, and inexpensive for the high quality of its construction. But for all that savings, the cost is in its finicky, easily/misaligned or broken drawers, which are of course the main reason to purchase a bed of this design. A nice starter/apartment bed, but hardly anything special.
My husband and I ordered this for our new place. At first, the bed was great. We were giving it time to expand and settle in. The boards underneath, the platform part, are now becoming a hassle. The boards are far too short to extend from one side to the other as intended. Everytime we get into bed, one (or more) of the boards comes loose, making a loud popping, wood splitting sound and we have to get up and rearrange the boards. Sometimes this works and other times we get back into bed and it happens again. I understand they are probably shorter to make assembly easier, but at least make them long enough so a person can be comfortable and not constantly fixing.
I put this together with a little help from my fiance; the instructions were clear and not hard to follow. We followed Mr. Zieglers additional instructions and have had absolutely no squeaking, shaking, etc. The bed is very sturdy and was not too difficult to put together. Ordered matching headboard and it looks very nice in our bedroom. The drawers slide in and out easily. One of the platform boards was a little warped but this ultimately had no effect on the bed.
A few recommendations, though:
1. Youll want to have a cordless hand drill to help with the large number of screws. Doing it by hand is possible but would take forever.
2. Wear gloves when dealing with the platform boards/they are not finished and I kept getting splinters.
3. If you cant find the felt tape (as Mr. Ziegler recommends/lady at hardware store acted like I asked for some rare, little known item), the tape that people use for window insulation works just as well.
4. Make sure you have plenty of space in your recycle or trash bins for the packaging/lots of cardboard.
5. Youll need to open all three of the boxes to get started/the instructions were in one box, the screws were in another, and the wood parts you start step one of the instructions with were in the third box.
A pain in the to put together. One part was terrible because you had to match up screws and other hardware (forget what theyre called) and it was nearly impossible to match up. Ended up cracking a piece off one of the boards. Had to gorilla glue it. Looks very nice, but I wont be buying brand furniture again.
