We ordered this for our daughters to make room for our 3rd child coming soon. We didnt want to spend much on a bunk bed because it is a temporary solution until we find a more permanent living location. We also didnt want to buy a bunk. Our kids are 2 and 6. We ordered the gray color to match the other furniture in the room.
This item did take longer than most Prime items. It took about a week, though it had arrived in our city two days prior to the delivery and FedEx had a note in the tracking does not have to be delivered today. When it arrived, the box was slightly damaged but nothing alarming. When opening the box, we were surprised how exact the color was and the packaging to our crib/dresser by Stork Craft. Everything looked the same, including the tools and packaging. That set off some alarms because our Stork Craft Furniture for the dress came in broken, and was missing 1 bolt.
Its best to give yourself plenty of space when separating the materials. For us, we built some of it in our living room because of how much space the full size took up. Then we connected it all in their bedroom. It does take a while to set up with a lot of patience.
Some of the problems we had, first we had difficulty with some connections with the hex nuts with the bolts. It had to line up just right, otherwise it would not connect, and just took some time adjusting different bolts to loosen other connections to make things work. The guard rail did not line up if following the steps accordingly. We had to remove some bolts from a previous step, attach the guard rail, and then bolt the sides in. So, we had to do a few steps backwards in order to go forward.
Now for the material problems. For the full size portion, the top decorative part of the front and back rails (head and foot board) were broken. The top piece was not glued in. This is a simple fix with wood glue, and not a problem when the top bunks connects to the bottom, but still broken. Secondly, one of the Qs, its a support piece for the side rails of the top bunk, it did not have a pre/drilled opening to put the screw in. We saw a small mark, and when trying to manually screw in, a hole punched right through the board. So, this was a manufacturing error. Its as if the hole was completely made, versus only half way to flush the screw inside. So, this entire piece will not work. Finally one of the hex nuts was not made correctly, so none of the screws for that piece will go through to finish one of the frame connections. It looks distorted and angled. Also, the slats for the twin/upper deck of the bunk bed, 4 our of the 7 slats are not drilled correctly, and impossible to make contact with the bed with the screws that are meant to do with it.
The manual does say if parts are missing or damaged to call their own customer service line for free replacements. This is the same info Stork Craft had, and replacement parts took about a week to arrive, so I expect the same with this. So, I will be calling for replacement parts.
For quality, I am going to add more slats to the bottom deck/full size. There are large gabs in between the slats they provided, and think adding more slats will be more stable versus adding a simple plywood, plus the bottom bunk is mainly for our 2 year old to use. The upper bunk has plenty of slats, but I did read others saying plywood helped a lot. Since the top bunk is smaller, I will be doing the same, buying plywood for the top bunk.
Overall, in general we are pleased with the cost. We did get a discount from for the damaged item, but I would recommend based on the quality and price. Just a little manual labor, and you may have some broken or missing parts but with free replacement it shouldnt be a huge deal breaker. I would buy again or recommend for anyone on a budget. Also the bed can be separated for future individual use.
So far so good. I have two young boys 7,6 years old and suits them great. Only concerns is weight capacity is is under 200 lbs so not suitable for adults meaning I cant lay with them and read them a story before bed.
Just got it together today. Aside from stacking the beds, it can be assembled solo. That being said, a second person would make. It a lot easier. Its exactly as described. As other commenters mentioned, it is a soft wood a dents easily if you were to say drop one piece on another. ( hypothetically, of course.

Surprised
This bed came in a box 12×12×84. I was terrified! It went together so easily. I am also surprised of how durable it appears.
