While this is a nice looking loft bed, the description is deceiving because some of the bed is solid wood, but much is NOT! Once we put it together, the chemical smell lasted for weeks. May have lasted longer, but we took it down and out of my sons room. I would not trust the weight capacity claim of 400lbs. This bed is very wobbly and does not feel sturdy and solid. The loft beds that are actually solid wood (and sturdy) are priced at more the 800 range. So, you get what you pay for. We did not unbox immediately, and now the return window had passed. Super unhappy with this purchase.
We bought this bed for our 16/year/old daughter so that she could have storage space under her bed. She loves this bed!
It does take a bit to put together but it wasnt difficult, just a lot of screws. The end result was a beautiful, sturdy loft bed! We didnt put the side rail or ladder on, which makes it easier for her to get in and out. So glad we found this bed.
Being that I spent 400 on this I expected it to be a little more high quality than it was. Its a bunch of cheap wood. If this bed was maybe 200 then Id understand and would rate it higher but it really isnt the most sturdy. It works and was easy enough to assemble. One of the came with a giant hole in it. The wood is so cheap and splits SUPER easily so be careful when assembling.
EDIT: I have had this bed for about 5 months now. 2 adults and 2 small dogs have been sleeping on his bed. Overall its pretty sturdy but does make the occasional squeak and it creaks sometimes. The bed is strong, just cheaply made in my opinion. Its still very much not worth 400.
I dont know if I got a fluke one, but several of the parts were actually labeled incorrectly. I was trying to figure out why I had seven boards labeled the same thing when it only called for one board with that number labeled on it. Boards 13 and 14 are actually the same thing even though the manual doesnt say. Board 11 was actually board 12, and board 12 was actually 11. It definitely took some extra time to figure things out and putting this together took me almost 6 hours because they were a few times I had to take pieces off because they were labeled incorrectly.
The bed seems very sturdy for my 6 and 8 year old that is pictured. The six/year/old is standing on the ladder and the eight/year/old is laying down to give you an idea how big this is. Its nice and low so I can just bend over and kiss my child goodnight thats on the top bunk.

Some cosmetic issues with random parts. Only one part is noticeable and you have to look for it (know its there) otherwise the rest were hidden or installed out of sight. I did not bother contacting the company for replacement. Once I started assembling I did not want to wait for parts so I decided to live with it.
The drawer at the bottom roles on the floor. Not a great thing in carpet. Its also not attached to anything so it will likely roll away when my little one notices they can remove it.
The drawer is open on the inside of the underside of the bed. i.e. the kiddos can simply look in there and mess with whatever is in there from under the bed.
The UPS driver must have been on drugs or something. He tossed it in the driveway carelessly and from the external look of it I thought for sure that it must have been damaged. It was not. This does not affect my review of the product. Just an observation.
This is heavy. When it comes you will need help getting it in the house. I recommend a dolly if you have one. Also a nice set of Allen wrenches is helpful as is a battery powered drill (Phillips bit); your install will go better with them. I have to note the Allen wrenches that came with the product. They were well thought out bending on each end similar to the letter z; you can turn them like a wrench.
Bought this bed for my 10 yr. old daughter. She loves her new bed. It is very nice but its not perfect. I dont expect anything to be in tip top shape. There are some cracks in the wood that appeared as her dad was putting it together. It is sturdy for her but my daughter is on the petite side. She is not overweight or anything like that. Im not sure if this bed will hold up if you have a child that is on the heavy side. It took her dad quite sometime to put this loft bed together but he was taking his time and was watching tv. Putting bed sheets on this bed is not so easy. I have scratched myself on the wood. Also, there was a very strong paint smell coming from this bed because it is painted white. My daughter could not sleep on this bed for 3 or 4 days. It was that strong. I found that lighting a candle and keeping the room well ventilated helped the smell. It completely went away after a couple of days. All in all this bed is very beautiful and has lots of space underneath. She loves it and really thats all that matters.
Brings you back to that college room dorm nostalgia. I assembled it alone but if you have someone there to assist you I highly recommend it. There are a couple areas in particular where its difficult if you do not have assistance

Great Loft Bed for Teenager too
