    A great buy

This bed is perfect for for my very tall son. He wanted more room in his bedroom, so we sold his old bed and ordered this in XL Twin. Easy to put together, did it in about 1 hour with help of my daughter. Directions were very clear and easy to follow. This will work for my son for the next four yrs of high school.

    Great if you need storage!

You cant expect furniture-store beds from a box, no its not real wood. We were replacing a broken bed very similar but without drawers and it is just as good quality. We are in a small apartment and needed storage space so this was a great way for us to create extra storage. (Also ordered the headboard). Its sturdy and had no problems with parts not fitting together or misaligned. You do have to make sure the bed is completely straight for the drawers to close flush against the bed (especially after scooting or moving the bed). So Im happy and wasnt expecting some $1000+ bed from a box, I knew it would be cheaper materials, thats what you get when your bed comes in a box you build yourself. I recommend this bed especially if you are short on space.

    Looks great, not too hard!

I put this together with a little help from my fiance; the instructions were clear and not hard to follow. We followed Mr. Zieglers additional instructions and have had absolutely no squeaking, shaking, etc. The bed is very sturdy and was not too difficult to put together. Ordered matching headboard and it looks very nice in our bedroom. The drawers slide in and out easily. One of the platform boards was a little warped but this ultimately had no effect on the bed. A few recommendations, though: 1. Youll want to have a cordless hand drill to help with the large number of screws. Doing it by hand is possible but would take forever. 2. Wear gloves when dealing with the platform boards-they are not finished and I kept getting splinters. 3. If you cant find the felt tape (as Mr. Ziegler recommends-lady at hardware store acted like I asked for some rare, little known item), the tape that people use for window insulation works just as well. 4. Make sure you have plenty of space in your recycle or trash bins for the packaging-lots of cardboard. 5. Youll need to open all three of the boxes to get started-the instructions were in one box, the screws were in another, and the wood parts you start step one of the instructions with were in the third box.

    Good deal for the price.

It took my husband and I several hours to put the bed together. If you follow the directions and are good at interpreting drawings, it should turn out ok. The holes were aligned well for the hardware to be installed. Weve been sleeping on it for a couple weeks now and dont have any complaints. The bed doesnt move around and there isnt any squeeks or rattles. The drawers arent made to hold much weight. Dont expect to store king size sheet sets or books in the drawers without the bottom of the drawers sagging. I think this bed is a good bargain for the price. We live in a 2-story house and could only get full size mattress and box springs up the steps. This bed and a foam mattress allowed us to upgrade to a king size bed.

    Good product, good customer service.

The wood is not high quality, but for the price I didnt expect it to be. It is very functional and nice to look at. It was easy to put together. I had a problem with the drawers where they sent me twelve left side cuts instead of six left and six right side cuts. However, with an email to the company including the parts that were missing and the order number, they sent them out no problem. This buy was worth it.

    Bed Platform Review

Looks really good once all together. The hardware that came with the bed was a little iffy though Had alot of bad parts that we couldnt use because they were molded wrong or something. The turn pieces wouldnt lock together correctly is some instances, and in one instance the turn piece decided to twist in the holder spot in the wood and cause the wood to break. Luckly it was fixable. But none the less made the assembly unpleasent Also a few of the drawers dont sit flat to the frame when closed Its like the fronts were warped slightly But seriously all in all its a really good looking piece. Im still pleased with it.

    Serves the purpose

We ordered two of these beds for our daughters room. They are just what we needed! The girls love them and the storage is great. While a bit time consuming to put together, my husband had no trouble. Not real wood, but they do seem sturdy.

Buy a bed online? Delightfully surprised, really works for us!

I knew its a crazy gamble to buy this type of product online. My biggest on yet. I have a picture, price, item description but no reviews! This isnt a $5 item that if it disappoints you can just say, Oh Well. If this is a lemon you are screwed because while returnable, this manufactured wood/particle board/MDF stuff is heavy and the packing so re-pack impossible it is not really practical to return. So allow me to be the first review for you! Features and price were the main reasons for buying. I needed a bed for my teenage daughter, so she had to like it, storage drawers were a must to open up space in her room, but I didnt want to spend too much knowing shell be off to college in a few years. I didnt need a bed that would be there in 15, even 10 years. This bed met all those needs. The only one we found that did, and I looked all over the place locally, in this big suburban town. We are glad we bought this bed and are happy with it. For the price it is ideal. This bed is ideal for her. She likes the simple styling, low profile, and storage drawers for clothes (of course). The drawer space is plenty. Sufficient really, for the more drawer space you have the more clothes you can hide and forget that you have! The bed is sturdy and feels solid. I especially like that the drawers are integral and part of the bed, not just a big drawer box that slides under the bed. There are alot of those out there. Thats fake to me as a storage bed. My wife and daughter put this together fairly easy in roughly two hours. Instructions are straightforward but a little assembly know-how and intuition helped. Instructions do need a serious review however. The steps dont make the best logical sense. Thats the reason for the lost fifth star in this review! They help get the assembly done but if you are reading this- go see how does it. They make it real easy and simple and clear. Other comments I read elsewhere online about difficult to move is true so put it in place before you pack the drawers, and assemble it in the same room it will stay in. Now you do get what you pay for, theres a reason why the price point is where it is, dont expect to get Ethan Allen furniture for price, but if you want a simple styled bed with storage this is the one. This bed is -like just that instructions not as clear or logical. I keep mentioning so I should say that they were the first place I looked for such a bed. But they dont even have one like this. Sleep well, store well, save $ well.

If you can afford a handcrafted captains bed, great. Otherwise, get this!

I purchased the Queen 12-Drawer Storage Bed. A brief review: The Good: The bed comes with all parts you need to assemble, including instructions and extra screws. When put together, the bed looks nice, is sturdy enough to hold two adults, and offers ample storage space. The Cons: The bed is mostly laminate particle board- as such it is: brittle; heavy; scratches easily; and you must take extra care when assembling and screwing in parts. The full review: Three of us worked on putting this bed together. The man of the group put together the dozen drawers with a power drill and hammer while the two women worked on the bedframe with handheld screw drivers. We worked fairly efficiently and had no problem reading the directions. The build time from start to finish was still almost 4 hours. The laminate scratches and chips VERY easily. I would recommend assembling the drawers on padding or thick carpet, and make room to spread them out or gently stack them as you finish them. Whatever you do, dont drop them. Sadly, we dropped one (it chipped) and scuffed several. The bed frame, of course, needs to be assembled in the bedroom where it will stay. The room we chose has hardwood floors, so at the very start we attached felt furniture pads to the bottom of the bed ends and middle supports. (When the bed was assembled, the pads allowed the two of us to move the bed into just the right spot without any difficulty- and without damaging the floor.) One hole, for the wood screw to hold the metal support, was drilled just a few millimeters off, but considering how many screw and nails went into the thing, that was not a big deal. Make sure that all of the screws for the drawer hardware are screwed in flush. One drawer wasnt sliding in smoothly and on further inspection, I noticed one screw was at a slight angle and was not flat against the metal slider. I removed the screw, put another one in correctly, and the drawer slid in just fine. Our bed came with several extra screws. This was a good thing, because the screws are a bit soft and the heads get stripped easily. Be very careful while using your screwdriver. The bed looked great once assembled. I was so excited to start using it that I immediately put a few clothes in it- the next day I pulled out a shirt and it smelled VERY strongly of processed wood. I aired the drawers out a week (leaving the drawers open all day) and the smell dissipated greatly. I would recommend letting the drawers air out for at least a week in a well-ventilated room before you really use them. Overall, if you cant afford a real wood storage bed, this is a good alternative. I recommend it. Update, six years later: While the bed is still pretty and functional, it has required some tweaking/repairs to get right. Several drawer bottoms have partially popped out and have needed to be repaired over the years. They cant take a lot of weight or pressure, so dont stuff them silly; the under mattress slats bow and wiggle around a bit, especially if you are heavier or move around lot in your sleep, and need to be periodically adjusted for maximum support ( I am thinking of just putting plywood or a bunkie board down to eliminate the issue altogether); and the bed wobbled (swayed) with too much movement, so I bought metal brackets from the hardware store and I reinforced the joints and that took care of that issue. The bed is a little high for short folks, so a step stool or a bench at the foot of the bed would be a good call if you are super short or less mobile. Last, you cant place an end table next to the bed, so youll you need a headboard, wall mounted shelf, or a slim sofa table used as a headboard to give you space to put things like glasses, tissue, books, a lamp, or your alarm clock. I went with the sofa table. All in all, it has held up to years of use. It isnt perfect, but with a few adjustments, it works fine for me, and has eliminated the need for a bulky dresser in my small bedroom. (Original review January 2011; update June 2017.)

    Excellent Design and Finished Assembly

Ill start by saying I have an engineering and design background. This bed frame is beautifully designed and each piece is perfectly made. But if you are not the patient kit building type dont buy it, or pay someone else to assemble it. It took me 4 days to put it all together, carefully, on a smooth wood floor (carpeting might not allow pieces to easily align, so pay attention to that), stopping frequently to do other things. I also attached a piece of cardboard under each of the 4 big 3/4 thick pieces (ends and middle) resting on the floor to prevent the particleboard from scratching the floor. The assembler must not force any screw - if its not going together easily there is something wrong - perhaps a leftover piece of particleboard in the hole, a cam or whatever in the wrong position, etc. Patience and common sense are the key. I also assembled the drawers on a piece of cardboard, cleaning it after each drawer was assembled. Im very pleased with the finished bed frame. I will add 1/8 smooth pressed board over the slats (not the metal supports) for the mattress to rest on, and to keep the frame square so the drawer fronts always close evenly. And I will add felt cushions on the underside of the inside drawer fronts so they close silently. Update 6/25/2012 I never got around to adding the board to keep the frame square, but a few weeks ago I used box tape to keep the slats in place and added a blanket over the slats to protect a 2 foam topper that I put under my mattress Visco2 Ventilated Mattress Enhancer) to help add flex to my (Boyd - IMNF910 - 910 Series Eco-Certified 9 Temperature Regulated Latex) mattress thats too firm for me. I bought the foam to go on top of the mattress, but it trapped too much body heat. Putting it under the mattress has worked great - I sleep in full comfort now and the raised mattress protects my knuckles when tucking the bottom sheet. The foam topper is dense and heavy (it weighs 27 pounds) and easily holds the mattress, but gives just enough under my weight to provide comfort.
