Took like 6 hours to assemble but I know it was done right because its pretty sturdy. Had to add an extra tall rail for my windmill sleeper but we love it otherwise. My daughter has more play space below the bed now! Would recommend to others who are trying to maximize floor space for toddlers but aren't quite ready for a tall loft bed.
This low loft bed is in a small basement bedroom with a low ceiling. I was worried because even though it gets high star reviews overall, some of the critical reviews worried me. Im pleased to say that it came in perfect condition with all pieces, no cracks or splinters or broken knots. Finish was perfect condition also, and assembly was 2.5 hours from the time the box was delivered until we had it fully set up to go, with 2 adults and a screwdriver drill attachment. It is very sturdy!
Its true that holes aren't drilled for many of the screws. The headboard and footboard have small punch marks to indicate where to put the brackets. I was nervous for splitting the wood in that area, so i drilled very small pilot holes and it turned out fine. The other holes that are not drilled out where the slats connect to the bed rails. I also drilled out pilot holes for the support beams. The slats have holes though so I just screwed them through directly with no pilot holes and it turned out fine with no splitting.
Pay attention to the pieces which are numbered on the edges, and some also have direction arrows. Some identical looking pieces arent quite!
Some reviewers said the support beams were sharp underneath. Ours had 2 sharp corners and 2 rounded-off corners so be sure to put the rounded ones down before screwing them in.
As a final note, this can accommodate a massive amount of under-bed storage!! Ours is for a teen so underneath we have a dresser (ikea NORDLI), clothes hamper, file cabinet-turned-bedside table and cube storage unit (ikea EKET—which fits perfectly under the footboard and the light gray is almost an exact color match). Then there is still a ton of space behind it for other storage or making a little hidey hole for sprawling out, though at this age my teen cant fully sit up haha.
I love my new bed because I can finally sleep without animals. They love in under my bed! They have their own little cave-like room under there, so whenever we stay someplace else they always squeeze under the bed at night, whether they fit comfortably or not! This bed is the perfect height so I can even put their kennels under it. Its not too high, so I nixxed the ladder and just step on a sturdy night stand to hop on. It is also a very handy stand up desk for daytime when I like to spread out my paperwork. Its lightweight snd easy to move…such an easy fun space saving way to set up a small bedroom. I love it!
Bought a full and twin for my kids. Each took 2 hours to install with 1 adult. There is 1 step that you need someone to help hold pieces, my 10 and 12 year old was able to do that. 12 year old built ladder himself. I used a power drill to speed up- you need a power drill as there is a lot of screws. I am not handy with tools and was able to do this.
Got this bed when I moved into a studio apartment so I could use the space underneath to put my dog's kennel and toys. The instructions for setting it up were easy to follow and the bed is super sturdy and looks really nice. My only comment is that it has a strong wood smell so if you're sensitive to smells, keep it in mind.
We got the full sized loft. It took my fiance and I about 2 and half hours to put together (definitely have an extra set of hands). My 4 year old loves it, and Ive had a lot of fun decorating etc. holds me and my fiance on top, and is very sturdy.
