Having to manually drill out every single self-tapping screw location with a drill bit slightly smaller than the screw just to have a shot at installing this bed was the most time-consuming, wood dust-producing, and disappointing experience Ive ever had. Make sure to have a Drill on hand, as I only had an impact driver, which would completely destroy the top of the screws. The boards that support the mattress were half bowed, and the amount of room you have to screw the boards in makes it incredibly frustrating.
But after hours and hours of tedious work, the bed frame is incredibly aesthetically pleasing, sturdy, and it allows for plenty of under-the-bed storage. I am 61 so I dont use the latter, I just jump in, which allows me to have 3 dresser drawers along the long side of the bed. Overall I would say get this bed if it fits your needs and you are looking for a cheaper alternative to some other loft beds. But keep a drill on hand, and dont attempt to use an impact driver to screw anything in.
OVERDUE UPDATE - After only a few weeks of having the bed assembled, my oldest sons bed broke! And when I say broke, the side rail and bottom supports completely snapped. I contact customer support since I bought an extended warranty and they refused to do anything citing the warranty only covers missing pieces and not damages! WHAT Be cautious if you buy this unsteady mess. Headed right over to Wayfair to buy a less expensive, metal frame loft bed that is way superior to this scrap wood. HUGE waste of money and time spent putting it together!!!!
Original - Living in a furniture store desert, I have to shop for most furniture online and it isnt a very pleasant experience. I took a chance on this piece (2 actually) and they exceeded my expectations. Aside from assembly being a pain (best assembled with 2+ people), the beds are sturdy. My 6, 300lbs teen fits comfortably with plenty of wiggle room!
This is the perfect transitional bed for my 3 year old little boy! He was in a toddler bed but it was just too small and the room hes in is smaller than Id like so this is a great option for storage underneath. And for the price, this bed cant be beat!
Definitely respect the weight limit for the bed- not made for anyone heavier. Easy to assemble (knocked it out with help from my 12 year old daughter) in 1.5 hrs ....I used extra support brackets for security and because I had read that the wood splits etc....she has been using the bed for a month now and it is rock solid (with the brackets in place).... Bought them at Home Depot- spent maybe an extra 20$ (worth it).... She loves the bed... Totally worth the money.
To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about this purchase after reading mixed reviews but after delivery, assembly and about two months of use so far, its been fantastic! I bought two for my 10 and 7 year old rambunctious boys and they love them! They came well packaged and were easy to assemble. I could see where you could overtighten the bolts and potentially cause some damage to the wood so I would suggest not using a drill and just bolt together by hand. All in all Im very happy with my purchase and they look great!
