Took probably about 3-4 hours to assemble, and was relatively easy (I have assembled lots of boxed furniture, so it was pretty standard). I almost made a couple mistakes along the way, so you need to pay attention carefully to the orientation of the board and what not. It seems to be consistently sturdy (at the time of writing this, we have used it for about a month). We have a preschooler and an elementary aged kid, and they both love it.
Exactly what I was looking for I love it. I bought this for my granddaughter. The youngest 22 months and the bottom bed is hers. If she rolls off, she wont get hurt. I love the steps. Great for the little one.
