Great Product ! Great Price ! Well Built ! Though disassembled parts are heavier than expected, which is ok because that means its well built and sturdy ! Love This Scooter ! Thanks!
This is good for what I need it for, but if I had to do over I would have spent the money on a more expensive modal, that one could upgrade to lithium batteries. However so far so good. It gets me from point A to Point B with little fuss and fits in tight walkways.
My scooter arrived today, 6/9 one day before the delivery window closed. However, it wasnt the one I ordered. I ordered a Scout4 Spitfire that was listed at 694.99. The first day of the delivery window, 6/5, The seller, Phillips Medical, contacted me by phone to tell me that the original scooter had been misplaced by the shipper. To make up for that, they sent me an upgrade; The Spirfire Ex 1420 that lists at 1,099. Then they shipped it FedEx Priority even though I had opted for standard delivery.
It was in pristine condition when it arrived still shrink/wrapped to a pallet. I plugged the battery in immediately for the 4 to 6 hour original charge and started the assembly. About the only parts I had to install were the arm rests My grandson and I had it together in less than an hour. Then I disassembled it to make sure it fit in the back of My Hyundai Tucson. It fits fine with a little room for other odds and ends. I then reassembled it including the battery and took it for a test spin. Everything works great. It is comfortable and adjustable. I like the swivel seat for easy entry and exit. I havent had it up to full speed yet. Im afraid to go that fast. If I decide to further upgrade to the 21 amp battery which would increase the range from 9 to 15 miles, I will certainly contact Phillips Medical to do that.
This scooter//Spitfire Scout 4 wheel//met my most important features so I ordered one early AM 04/21/14 with One click order with no response of acceptance (I just couldnt find it)//so I ordered the old fashioned way. About 2 hours later I received a call
from Phillips Medical verifying a purchase of 2 scooters. I said no and explained my ordering and was told to log back in and cancel one of the orders which I did. Cancelation was accepted and verified by and Phillips Medical. Took only 5 minutes//WHAT SERVICE!!!!! The scooter arrived in Sugar Land, TX Wednesday at 10:13 AM 04/23/14 at my apartment door. Opened the box and had battery on the charger connected by 11:00AM. The only assembly was to insert seat post that required tightening a nut (tool kit missing) that needed only a small adjustable wrench//3 minutes. Assembled the arm rests//5 minutes. On 04/24/14 after 22 hours of charging I installed battery, seat and adjusted tiller. I have run it about 2 miles so far getting used to operation and turned it over to my wife as the scooter is to be for her use. My wife is very pleased with the scooter and likes it better for short trips than the Jzy 14 chair (which has given top service). Will update later with service review. 5 star for and 5 star for Phillips Medical. Only gripe is I did not have time to stop for a cold beer during assembly.
It was a little harder to put it together than I expected because they had some of the parts locked. A sheet showing the initial assembly would be nice. It should be easier to break down once it is put together.
Unlike the other low priced scooter. this one can be upgraded to 20 amp batteries.
I had it one day and used it to take my dog for about 1.25 miles walk. Running it top speed she had to trot to keep up. I carried my Garmin portable GPS and it registered top a speed of 5.8 MPH. I highly recommend Philips Healthcare. I had it delivered to my door in two days.
YOU CAN SPEND HUNDREDS MORE AND GET VERY LITTLE MORE. THIS IS A VERY GOOD BASIC SCOOTER AND IT WILL TAKE MOST ACCESSORIES, i.e. REAR BASKET.CUP HOLDER ETC.
