I bought this bed for my 7 year old. It was easy enough to put together, you may need an extra pair of hands when assembling the loft. It is heavier and sturdier than I anticipated. The desk has come in handy for virtual learning. it is the best product.
Assembly was easy ( for me). It is good for my son, age 7, but I wouldnt trust it with much weight. It requires a thin mattress. No complaints, really happy
Bought this for my 12 year old. She has a smaller room and is sharing with her sister. Took 3 of us a half day to put together but instructions were fairly easy to follow. Sturdy bed. Very happy with the turn out. Will be getting another soon for her sister. I totally recommend it
Putting this bed together was a bit time consuming given theres not a single preassembled element (except for the mattress slats) but the manual with assembly steps was very clear, all parts/nails/screws present and clearly marked, and the overall quality of the materials was very good. Imagine a wooden Lego set on steroids / tons of fun for people loving DIY projects.
The assembled bed is really nice. All parts fit perfectly, finished and painted with no noticed flaws. What we liked was that the book shelf and the chest of drawers are not integrated into the frame and can be placed somewhere else in the room for a complete bedroom look. If you prefer to have more compact layout just place them like in picture above.
Desk glides in and out smoothly, and we have a medium thick carpet, so the little wheels are coping.
The only little weak point we have noticed so far (after 1 week of use) is that the top step of the ladder started looking worn already with paint peeling off. Given that it will be the high use surface it might be necessary to enforce it with some sort of padding/tape.
All in all very happy with the purchase and price/quality ratio cant praise it enough!
This bed was perfect!! The slide out desk and the versatility of the dresser and book shelf as its not attached to the bed. My son made a man cave underneath and is enjoying his space. still feels plenty sturdy
It took some time but was not impossible to assemble. Directions are picture based, parts are not labeled. Sturdy wood, we dont feel unsafe putting our five year old in it. Some holes do require an electric drill. It fits our need, and our son loves it. VERY HEAVY BOXES. Comes as shown in picture.
Overall, this bed and the add ons (dresser, shelf, and desk) seem pretty good. Our 5 year old boy loves the setup. Assembly was easy (bed needs two people). Things fit well. We had a much better experience assembling this than we did when assembling IKEA furniture.
My reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars are as follows:
/ There are some sharp corners that should and could have been softened.
/ The desk add on is not ideally suited for a right handed child if the desk side of the bed is against a wall. The right hand is uncomfortably close to the bed frame.
/ The final, overall sturdiness of the bed could be a improved. For instance, the bed makes some creaking noises when my 5 year old 50lb boy gets into it (these may go away over time as the assembly settles in). It also shakes a bit when I push on it, more than I expected. Be sure to have it
We purchased this for our grandson. Hes about to become a big brother and we wanted him to have a special big boy bed while his baby brothers room was being set up. Our son in law had it all set up in no time! Our grandson loves it.
It was delivered right on schedule and was just what we wanted for them!!!
