This is my sons big boy bed/ he turns 5 in April and has been wanting a bunk bed. We ordered it after reading the reviews, and so far he loves it and so do we. We used s set up service so I cant comment on how easy it is to put together. I have chemical sensitivities and so I wish we would have opened the box and let the wood air out for a while before we installed it. It smells like solid wood, which is fine/ just strong!
After going back and forth between a few different bed models, I ended up ordering this bed because the ladder was installed in a manner where it could remain removable ( to avoid my 4 year old climbing up to the top bunk ). And it worked out great, the bet is actually pretty sturdy, I wasnt my sure about buying this because when compared to other models it looks like it has less slats which equals less strength down the middle, but I was wrong, this bed actually has a brace that runs along the middle of the bed lengthwise to reinforce these slats.
I assembled this bed after working a 12 hour shift and did it pretty easily after figuring out the orientation of parts on the first level, the second level was a breeze. I like that the ladder has two sets of hooks that capture the bed frame rather than just hooking in at the top end of the bunk like other beds Ive seen.
The only real issue I had was one set of slats had a single bar twisted up from the factory on the bracing ribbon that is stapled to it, so I just pulled out the staples and screwed in the slat where it goes. Not a huge issue, but still annoying.
For the price, this is a solid and very attractive bed.
Got the twin/twin configuration. Had very detailed and clear step by step instructions for assembly. Took a few hours to assemble, but not difficult. Seems good quality and sturdy.
We ordered these for our lake . I mean, how can you be at a cabin and not have bunk beds for kids and grandkids?! I looked everywhere and researched everything. I couldnt possibly pay thousands of dollars for good quality beds. And everything else had these ugly fake/brass/looking fasteners that stood out like a sore thumb. Enter . These are great. The is just as you see in the picture. And the fasteners yup they are too. These beds are sturdy and seem to be holding up to our 3 boys just fine.
Purchaced for my 4 year old and 19 month old. Decent quality for the price, it is what I expected based off of the reviews I read. Overall I reccomend this product. My 4 year old and myself put this together. This took us about 10 hours to assemble over 2 day, however, I was letting my 4 year old help and although we went s, it was overall a fun project. Its not hard to assemble, just takes awhile. I reccomend having two adults set this up, one person work on the bed, and the other person set up the stairs (and slide if they are fast) separately (Divide and conquer). You can set up stairs and slide in a different room if there is a space issue, these pieces can easily be moved once its assembled. The person working on the bed will need assistance on holding parts here and there, but no real muscle needed. My 4 year old daughter was able to help me prop it up, so not hard. I would estimate 2 adults could knock this out in 4 hours. The only additional tool you will need is an electric screw driver. I chose not to screw in the slide to the bed, as I like the option of removing the slide particularly at bed time, or to create more space in the room when needed. I also chose not to screw in the wood slats on the bottom bunk. I have yet to screw the stair case to the bed. At this time I dont feel like its a safety issue as it is pretty sturdy. I am chosing not do do this because I like the option of being able rearrange the stairs and the slide if I rearrange the room. I also purchaced two additional side rails for the bottom bunk that and offers, this is so I can still have the crib/affect for my youngest. I am also choosing not to screw these in, as I like the option of being able to remove them I also purchased the pink curtain for the bottom bunk. Overall, I am happy with my order and the bunk bed.
Negative/ish Comments: the pink curtain is more of a bubble gum pink. I think I was expecting it to be darker. Also, shipping was delayed on my order, but that wasnt a big deal to me. Pieces 14 and 15 on the stairs were switch. and it was late and I was tired, so it took me about 30 minutes to figure out that the numbers were accidently switched. This is not high/end/quality; parts can break if you misshandle while assembling. Lastly. I dont like when you lay on the bottom bunk and you look up, and you see the wood slatts. I wish there was something that hid these, but im just being picky.
The instructions were poor and led to my friend and I having to redo a couple steps. Actually I think we got one wrong/mislabeled piece as well but it made a small cosmetic difference and I didnt want to wait for a replacement.
The smell isnt as strong as I feared from these comments. Certainly didnt give anybody a headache but it does smell like paint a little bit. Someone said it was composite instead of solid but I can literally see the wood grain (subtly) under the paint. I started to worry some of you were getting knock offs by how much the reviews varied, so I made sure to order directly from the seller and Im happy I did.
I wish the bed was taller but really only Pottery Barn sold taller beds. With a normal ten inch mattress at the bottom bunk, an adult cannot sit under the top bunk. I didnt want to replace the mattress I already have but if youre buying new mattresses I think a little thinner would be better. We bought a tuft and needle nod 8 mattress for the top bunk. That works pretty well and also comes in 6 which would give you more head clearance on the bottom. This is another plus to a twin over full vs full over full: parent can still sit comfortably on the edge of the bed to tuck in the littles.
As many reviews have said, the bed slats are way too far apart. For the bottom I put in the slats from the bed I replaced, but I will need a bunky board or more slats for the top bunk. While it may be supportive enough as is its hard to make the bed without sheets etc hanging down over the bottom bunk as three isnt a good place to tuck them in with only sparsely spaced slats.
All in all I am satisfied with my purchase. The price was reasonable, delivery was quick, and the assembly is not too hard with a friend. My kids are so happy and, assuming it stays intact, they will get many years of use out of the beds. Bonus that I can theoretically separate it into two beds at the end, which is just a matter of lifting the top bunk off and putting it down.
Anyway, I hope this helps if youre on the fence.

Fantastic Bunk Beds
Perfect for our three year/old twins. Sturdy, attractive, and enough to not feel dangerous.
Very Happy! Happy kiddos too!
