This bed was a perfect replacment for my son who is a soon to be dad. He bought this to downsize his room to allow for a crib. The 6 drawers made it so he we using space vertically allowing more floor space for baby items. Exactly what we needed.
Our youngest daughter is officially ready for a big girl bed, and this twin size bed looked to be perfect for her. We love extra storage in our house, and this bed has two pull out drawers, and I loved that there was no need for a box spring, or that there was no head or foot board with it. With it being for a two year old who is tall for her age, we already knew we were going to place her bed against a wall, as well as use bed rails so she doesnt accidentally fall out. I actually put a little stool at the end of her bed so she can more easily climb in and out.
And let me tell you this bed frame is HEAVY! Dont think youre just going to casually pick it up or shove it through the house. My husband and I put it on a big comforter, and slid this thing across the house to her room. We laid each piece out once we opened it, and found decent instructions, each board labeled, and a package of screws and whatnot all nice and tidy in a larger packaging. It does come with an allen wrench, but definitely have your hammer, and, if you have one, an electric screwdriver ready. Basically thats all you are going to need to get started. I will say you would also need another person to help just to hold boards in place, which is what I did for my husband. The frame was super easy to do, but the directions do not state when to use the wooden dowel rods, so beware any extra holes you find with no direction of a screw to go into those holes such as the middle board on the frame in the first picture. There are four holes, and two of those are for the wooden pieces, but the directions dont say you need them. So watch out for that.
Once we had the frame together, we worked on the drawers, which took a lot more work than the actual frame itself. I did have to hold a lot of the boards, and help, and on the drawers is where youll use the hammer to push down the plastic screws on each side. We breezed through the second drawer, and then it was just placing the two top support pieces in. Done!!! Our only issue is that the rug was slightly under the bed and I pulled it out to place it where I wanted it, and it did push the very bottom board of the frame out, and I had to shove it back flat. The drawers open nicely, although I will admit, the bottom is pretty darn flimsy material. Think of a Kidcraft doll house, and the wood is about the same as the walls, or perhaps a little more flimsy than that. It does have a support piece in the middle of the bottom of the drawer on the underside, but stillbeware heavy things.
The only other issue I had is our mattress we bought. I went to Sams, and purchased a twin size Serta mattress, and when we placed it on top I realized theres a small space along the length of the bed that doesnt match up with the mattress. So were left with a gap, but we still made it work. It also worked fine with the bed rails if anyone is curious, and it says it can hold up to 300 pounds. In all it is a very pretty bed, and I love that I can move this around the room without having to worry which way the drawers are facing since it doesnt have a head or foot board. Other than that, this bed is wonderful, and has worked perfectly in our daughters room!
Overall this is not that bad of a product, and it works as you would expect however I do have some complaints and suggestions.
1st. If arived with some damages which for some it could be a deal breaker so bear that in mind.
2nd. It takes quite some time to put everything together so I suggest 2+ people to work on it.
3rd. The cabinets could really be a lot bigger. Not sure why they would make them so small (about 13 in).
The bed took my husband 3 hrs to assemble. Didnt need much tools everything were included in the package. The storage capacity is sufficient enough for my toddler room. I purchased a headboard from a different manufacturer because we already have a built library in the play room.
This was kind of hard to put together on my own. Had to get help to hold things while attaching the (ie rails in drawers). Not impossible, but not easy either.
Wasnt sure what to expect ordering furniture online, but this bed met every expectation. Even has padded boards for the back side of the bed that usually sits against the wall. This extra detail shows that they did not try and cut costs. I would recommend this bed.
