Very well made bed, worth the cost. Frame alone weighs 110 lb, so I am happy i paid the extra delivery cost to have it brought into the house. It took two adults to deliver. The most difficult part of construction was putting together head and footboard. Suggest using wood glue. Looks great and heavy duty. An adult can sleep on top bunk. Made of quality wood and has a metal cross bar on top bunk. I am very pleased with the bed. With 2 people construction came together easily using our own tools instead of the ones provided. I am extremely happy with this purchase. My grand children loved it.
This bed is amazing. Built great and really solid. My son loves the slide and enjoys it a lot. Also, really love the manufacter and their customer service as i had a part missing and they shipped it via fedex asap. Overall, well constructed which was rather surprising and is made of solid wood.
Everything was in one box. The slats were fine. The clay color is beautiful and its perfect for my 3 and 5 yo. My husband put it together in two hours. Seriously....no complaints.
My husband said the bed was fairly easy to put together, it took him a few hours, but hes also very good at that kind of stuff. They are very sturdy and Im very happy with look and fit in our space. Its great for a smaller room and I love how they arent too tall, which is why I chose this bed in the first place. My 4 year old absolutely loves her bed and doesnt give me any issue with sleeping in her room. Shes really tiny so she has more than enough space. Im 56 and can lay on the bottom comfortably but getting up is a bit tricky as there isnt much space to stand from a sitting position. It did have a bit of a smell which is typical with all new furniture in my opinion, it wasnt a concern for us and was gone in less than a week.
We ended up getting some bad screws. They sent us new ones very quickly. Happy with that. However the slide is so steep it sends kids crashing to the floor (its painful) so that dont get used much. So far like the rest of it. Seems sturdy
Awesome bed! My daughter absolutely loves it. Took us about 3 hours to assemble. All pieces came perfect. Nothing was missing or broken. Everything arrived in one large box. The slide is a bit steep but we put some pillows down and she loves it.
I assembled this in about 4 hours by myself but I was also watching Netflixso it probably should have taken less time. The height is great and my 5 year old loves his new bed. Its a little wobbly if you give it a joltI might end up attaching some crossbars across the legs. Otherwise, great bed, Ive even slept in it with my son when he was sick and it didnt collapse!
I had a few assembly hang ups, so Ill try to help you out in case you face the same issues.
On page 8, you need to attach piece 10 (the side safety bars) to the bed using wooden dowels. This proved to be impossible if you dont loosen the headboard piece first. After I loosened all of those screws from the headboard, then I could easily attach the 10 pieces and then retighten the screws to the headboard.
Page 11, you need to roll out and attach the mattress support. You need to line the holes up PERFECTLY. My suggestion is to very loosely screw in all the screws before tightening them. Even then, it was tough so I dont know if the screw holes were a little off, or if I was. Either way, this was frustrating.
The rest of the assembly was pretty easy.
It would have been MUCH easier with two people, but I dont need no man! Also, after the fact, I see the website suggests power tools. Normally DIY furniture discourages power tools because you may over tighten or strip the screws. I would have loved to use power tools, so if you have them, definitely use them.
We ordered two and returned one because this one doesnt work as expected and we have to assume the other one will be problematic as well, considering our experience and the reviews. Giving it two stars because it stands and for now its fine, but only because were doing work to improve where its defective.
Pros
- Decent wood.
- High railings.
- Kid thinks its great.
Cons
- More wobbly than expected. I thought there might be a little bit of movement but Im surprised at the amount my very small kids can make it move. Well be stopping by the hardware store to pick up materials to add a brace or three between the legs.
- The ladder doesnt touch the ground unless someone is standing on it, no matter what we do with placement. Were picking up rubber feet to add to it so the ladder sits on the floor.
Meh
- You can see a lot of knots and wood grain through the paint. If youre looking for pure white, this aint it.
- As someone thats put a ton of furniture together and writes instructions for a living, I feel uniquely qualified to say these arent THE worst instructions but theyre definitely not clear in many parts either.
We chose not to return it because that would require taking it apart and boxing it back up, and because were at least handy enough to upgrade it a little to give it more longevity. But were definitely returning the one we had still in a box for our younger kid.
For more than $300, I wouldnt expect to have to build on our own braces or figure out a hack to make the ladder reach the floor, so I really cant recommend this.
