I bought this bed to replace another bed for my wifes home office space. I thought it was a good looking bed for the price. Good reasonably price daybeds are hard to find where I live unless you buy from (2 1/2 hours away). First of all the minimal assembly requiredis an absolute false statement.
I consider myself a very handy person. I have made many repairs (appliances, computers, etc) and assembled many products (furniture, electronics, bikes) and let me tell you, this is THE most challenging, time consuming and frustrating projects (yes, projects) I have ever encountered so far in my 57 years of living. This is arguably a two person project, one if you enjoy unique challenges in life.
You will definitely need the following:
1. wood glue
2. time
3. Phillips screwdriver or drill for the wood screws
4. time
5. psychiatry or therapy appointments
6. patience
The most time consuming steps are the assembly of the wood for the rails. You will need some skills to keep them together to complete the sides and back. If you lose the hex tool life will be hard. It would be a good idea to group and lay out all of the parts on the floor before you start especially the rail . I started the assembly at 9 PM and stopped at 1 AM. I finished the screwing the bottom wood in the morning which only took a few minutes. Overall I am satisfied with the product and achieving the completion of this assembly.
I never leave reviews / I really feel a need to let people know this is a great bed. I was extremely nervous about purchasing a cheap bed from . I dont have a car big enough to go pick one up. This bed came quickly and was easy to put together. The instructions were very clear. I think that I must have benefitted from previous reviews that said the holes do not line up, because the instructions were very clear about what to do if the holes do not line up. It really is more operator error. Once put together the bed is solid and will work great for my grandchildren to sleep on. My only negative criticism is that the trundle bed does not have anything to hold the mattress on it. Not edge or lip. I havent tried a mattress on it, so maybe that isnt a problems. Seems like the mattress can just slide around.
This bed is a great buy for the money. It is not a one person job to assemble, it definitely takes 2 persons. Getting the back and side in is a real treat while you are trying to screw everything in place, this is what takes the most time. Instructions say 30 minutes to assemble not even close took just over 2 hours. Instructions are well written and easy to follow everything is well labeled also. Overall a great product and very sturdy.
