All the pieces arrived in good condition no issues with any splitting or cracking during assembly. As long as you get a coat of sealer on them I think they will last.
Not going to lie I was very overwhelmed when I saw the amount of assembly needed but I bought two chairs and once you start going it went really smooth directions are easy to read pieces are clearly marked did a great job with all The work you have to put into it
Purchased two chairs through Woot.com, fulfilled by .
Cons
At this price point, youre not getting mahogany. The wood is fir and is not the highest quality, but, it certainly is good enough.
Pros
The wood is very easy to work with. Fir may not be the most expensive or high quality, but when staining it, its relatively goofproof. The wood is fairly dry so it soaks up the stain like cry.
Simple easy to follow instruction.
Some tips
Youll need to sand off some rough edge so have some sandpaper handy. Nothing cry, just a quick swipe on a few pieces did the trick.
Be careful when using the screws. I used a higher powered drill with a Phillips bit and had one strip. You dont need to torque them down, just get them flush and then tighten them with a hand screwdriver.
If you are going to stain and/or polyurethane you should use a pick to open up the screw pilot holes a bit before applying the finish. Just makes them easier to find.
Bought three of these chairs for my studio deck. I am an artist who lives in the Mountains of New Mexico. A key selling point of this chair was that it folded down and could be easily stored out of the weather in the winter. But another plus was that it came in pieces. Pieces I could paint any color for that artistic accent for my studio. I only have two assembled so far. Need to buy more paint for the third which will be in sunset colors. One chair for solitude, two for companionship and three for company.
Incidentally they are the most comfortable Adirondack chair I have set on because the back is more erect that some. I think my costumers visiting my studio will enjoy them.
I ordered two chairs. They did arrive as a box of boards but it was kind of fun putting them together. A power screw driver was definitely a big plus! I painted them red and they are adorable. The quality isnt as great as a lot more expensive chairs but, for the money, these are definitely worth it.
I read someone else s review that suggested sealing before putting together. I took their advice sealed it with a light oak polyurethane. They ended up very pretty though my paint job could have been much better but not bad considering it was done on the bed of a truck. The pieces went together easily, all the hardware was there, all the pieces were there though a couple split or splintered while putting in the screws. It went together though with the help of a little elmers wood glue gets compliments on the back porch. It folds easily is light enough to carry down to the river. For the money it was good value. I saw much nicer chairs but the cost was six times as much once I put my butt down in it it make very little difference except I can still afford a beer to drink.
