Upon assembly we realized that 3 of the 4 holes on the front are too large for the screws that are meant to go into them, so the screws fall right out. In order to properly finish assembly, we have to go out and hunt down new hardware.
Otherwise, it is standing. It looks appealing, but is not as stable as Id like (the stability has nothing to do with the missing screws, this rack is just not very deep). Definitely needs to be attached to the wall (ours is).
It fits 2 pairs of adult sneakers, one pair of low-rise mens work books and 2 pairs of kids boots...which is not that much for a family of 5.
This took two people about an hour to assemble. Unfortunately the final pieces were damaged. It doesnt feel super sturdy, but for $100 I guess you get what you pay for. There are no pilot holes drilled for the hooks, so you will need a drill. Although it says the hooks can slide back and forth, they also come off when you remove your jacket so plan on drilling those into place.
I would give this product 5 stars all around if there werent a few major flaws to it. One flaw is that it came missing the end caps that the cover the bar ends on the top, without them the item looks incomplete, the other flaw is that the two back bars that hold up the shelf and the wood bars with the hooks are banged up pretty good, theres missing paint thats a big area straight down to the bare metal. I did message Customer Service regarding these issues hoping that I could at least obtain the missing end caps and I got no where. s solution was return it for either a refund or a replacement. This normally isnt an issue for me to return a damaged item but this item is very large and heavy and once its assembled and all the bolts are tightened taking it back apart again and trying to pack it into the box would be a huge inconvenience. The item was also offered with free 2 day prime shipping and it took almost a week to get it, it sat in Arizona for almost 3 days after being shipped which to me is ridiculous. So buyer beware
Not as tall as the description says it is about 55. It took about 2 hours to assemble. The finished product is really nice. There is a dent in mine from being mishandled during shipping.
It took me 2 hours to put this together by myself. Some of the locking screws were put in sideways and I had to pry them out to set them straight. One cracked the wood. Also a lot of the screw holes were not straight or non existent so I had to drill new ones. The holes for the hooks were off so the hooks hang crooked. There were a couple places where the finish was chipped off. Its not very tall which is fine cause I have a low ceiling but my coats rest on the bench so I cant really sit on it to put on shoes cause they stick out so far they cover most of the seat. The storage in the bottom only fits 6 pair of womans size 7 shoes. Not much space at all. Would probably be good in a small apartment for kids stuff but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone else.
I purchased 2 of these for my mud room to sit on 2 different walls. It took my very handy husband a couple of hours to assemble each one of these but he is very meticulous so I know they were put together well. When he finished one and put it in the house I was shocked at how SHORT it looked. Unfortunately, I only considered the width before ordering because based on the photos it certainly looked tall enough (my bad). I felt like it was made for toddlers and all their little preschool stuff not my teenagers and all of their big stuff. Needless to say, disassembling it and returning it wasnt a thrilling option so I let it sit there in the room and I looked at it for a few days. It is a sturdy enough bench seat, just dont sit back or youll hit your head! It also is 95% black paint with little to no distress which I wanted, but its fine. So after rereading reviews I found one person who said something about adding a vase or something to add height. So I tried that when I found some narrow, tall baskets at Pottery Barn and cubby hole baskets at Target that fit perfectly and I now have to say I like them enough to keep and will use them...both, as my husband put together the second one. So I gave 3 stars for being shorter than the picture leads you to believe and really NO distressing. But Id give 5 stars for overall look in the end

Holes drilled the wrong size, cant finish assembly

Alot shorter than it really should be

Not as good as I would hope.
