I would hope that being a metal frame that it would be a little bit more sturdy and less shaky than it is, but its not too bad. We definitely install the safety straps on it. The biggest issue I have is that when we bought this, the ladder was on the other side in the image which means it wouldve worked and kept my daughters head away from my fan but the way it is set up it is not compatible to do so.
Wasn't sure what to expect since there weren't many reviews at my time of purchase, but I took a chance because I liked the design and the price was right (even counting SandH costs). When it arrived, the box was naturally a little heavy (check the specs for weight) but it's to be expected since this is a metal frame bed.
The interior was neatly organized and tied with plastic zip ties. Every piece comes wrapped in light plastic sleeves to prevent scratching. Once all the parts were removed and sorted (make sure to look out for the two little support pegs, as ours got buried in the unpacking) assembling the bed with my wife was simple enough. The screws are well labeled and screw in smoothly and easily. None of that funky IKEA-like hit-or-miss assembly. Everything was easy enough to understand from the instructions as long as you take your time and pay attention to the bed pieces. What I really like is that the bed supports and everything are labeled with a little sticker, so there's added confidence that you're putting things in the correct place.
This can be assembled solo, as well, but it's faster and easier if you have an extra set of hands around to prop things up while you join opposing pieces together. It's really satisfying to snap the support bars into the bed platforms, and finally, to stick your twin mattresses in and see the kids enjoy their new bed.
One thing that I would have probably appreciated was an opening where the ladder meets the top foot (or head) of the bed. Instead my kids have to climb over the railing, which isn't a big deal, and would probably have compromised lateral stability, but it was the one thing I thought of when the assembly was finished.
My final recommendation is to buy some furniture casters or pads for hardwood floors if you're not planning on bolting this bed to a wall (the bed includes separate screws and tabs for securing this to a wall). Casters or rubber pads will spare your hardwood floors and also keep the bed more stable when the kids are on it. I'd still recommend these even if the bed is on carpet. Other than that I have no complaints about this bed. It's a good value.
This was a great purchase. We bought it for our 6 and 8-year-old sons to use. There's plenty of room on the bottom bunk for our oldest to sit up and still plenty of ceiling clearance on the top bunk. It was pretty easy to put together. My husband did most of it by himself and only needed me there for 1 step. The only real issue was some of the slat inserts on the frame were wonky, but my husband was able to put the slats in with some force.
I was looking to optimize my space in a small room and decided to go the loaf bed route and it 100 percent helped me to achieve that! The bed was easy to assemble and might require another helping hand when lifting! There's no squeaking and the bed is absolutely is sturdy leaving the rest of the room available under the bed for a nice office space! Under my loaf bed I have my computer desk as well as a long table turns horizontally for all my hair care products, jewelry etc and managed to get a another small table with a printer under it as well! I only gave it 4stars, because I wish there was a opening into the bed once u climb up the ladder, but you also have to put your leg over the railing at the top to get in the bed and the ladder itself as reported is very harsh on the bottom of your feet when climbing! People recommended tape and pool noodle for assist with that, but overall not big complaints! Would def recommend for small to medium rooms and it aesthetically looks cool!
I bought two of these beds for my two children but it is flimsy for a teenager, feels unsafe and the space below is for small children. I tried to return it but he disclaimed responsibility and the supplier accepted the return only if I paid for the shipping. The shipping cost is $168 dollars and the product cost $200. Very disappointed both with and with this provider
I think I wrote a review for it and forgot to mention my bed (at least mine) didn't come in with padding inside. Box. But bed was still shaky even when the screws were well tightened and wall mount attached. Any toss and turn or a simple sneeze, arm movement the bed makes noise.
