Ordered this item and received it sooner than promised! Put it up in about 3 hours with the help of my father. The directions were simple enough but not easy. Once it is together it is very sturdy and seems very solid! All that together with the price lowest price for this quality.....we are getting another one for Grandma and Grandpas house!
PS We first wanted to make our own, but this was only about $50 more than what materials would cost to buy. Considering the time to build it and the quality of the final result, we determined that this is the best/cheapest way to get a bunkbed.
The bed went together in about 2 1/2 hours. All the parts were included and the instructions are adequate. I had to slightly modify a bracing strap for the top bunk railing. All in all a good product for the price.
These beds were not that hard for us to assemble. All the parts came with it thankfully. We didnt set it up as a bunk bed since our twins are too young still, but we have them set up as two seperate beds. They are very well made, the look and feel of it is excellent. Its not flimsy or shaky. The slats are very solid. My only complaint is that I have had some trouble finding a mattress to fit it. I bought a set from as they suggested it when I ordered this bed. The dimensions are a bit more than the standard size but I am happy with the beds so I will not be sending it back. Yes, I recommend this product but make sure you measure the insides of the bed and compare the dimensions with that of the mattresses before you buy the mattresses.
The construction of the bed is very good. The assembly was easy. All the parts were included and came in 2 boxes. With a cordless drill and a hex driver I was able to assemble it in about an hour.
Now the bad news, the smell the wood gives off is toxic. Really. I usually wouldnt care about this, believe me, and I recognize most brand-new furniture has an odor, but this was different. I normally would enjoy a new-furniture smell much like I enjoy new-car smell who doesnt but this odor was MUCH worse than expected. The smell filled the whole house. We first thought it was the matresses and placed them outside to air out. But upon further inspection, the matresses were fine, the odor was coming from the wood of the bedframes. Our 6-year-old complained of a headache and dizziness when she woke up so we knew we had to get rid of it*. We had this bed for 2 days total.
DISASSEMBLY only took about 1/2 hour! and is, of course, great at returns.
*just so you know, my kid is not a complainer. If she says she doesnt feel well, she isnt well.
We received this item much earlier than promised, all materials, directions, etc. included. Took my husband and I a little over an hour to assemble.
I am very impressed with the quality of this bed for only $200. I have paid much more elsewhere for a bed more poorly built.
This twin bunk bed could very easily transition to two twin beds, one of which would be great for a toddler bed ONLY IF NOT ASSEMBLED AS BUNK BEDS, due to the railing which encompasses most all of the bed.
Its purchases like this that have continued to make me a loyal customer for the past 8 years.
Bought this for 2 boys - 6 and 4 years old.
Mine initially came in 1 box ... I knew it had to come in 2 boxes as I checked the local retailers display. Quick phone call to did not resolve anything. I waited 2-3 days more ... and UPS finally delivered the box #2.
Pluses
Compact packaging
Easy to understand directions
Tough sturdy real wood although there is nothing wrong with engineered wood
Up to 165 lbs this means this bunk bed can accommodate my kids until they are 13-15, by then anyway, I need to split them up as 2 single twin beds
Nice smooth espresso finish. Looks real expensive.
Excellent looking single twin beds when separated
Extra handrail supports. I have another bunk bed from 2003 from a different manufacturer which did not have these.
Sturdy ladder with flat steps
Minuses
- Some pieces wood were not labeled.
- The screw packs were not labeled.
- The position of the ladder cannot be moved around. You only have two options - without some modifications. If you are handy, you can change the ladder location - simply drill holes in appropriate locations.
- No extra large screws. I always want extras for my other bunk bed.
- The support slats are not painted. But for this price, I cannot argue. There is a bunk bed at the local warehouse retailer which sells for $100 more --- the only difference I see are the painted slats.
- Wished it was made in America mine was made in Vietnam.
Update
- The clearance is low between the 2 beds. Our other bunk bed allowed me to sit upright. A child would be able to sit upright though.
It took me a total of 2-3 hours to put together. I did take my sweet time as I did not want to make any mistakes.
I cannot comment on the paint/finish as far as durability but I did accidentally bang up the posts - and I did not notice any scratches.
thank you im very pleased with this bunk bed it is strong sterdy and nicely finnished , im a 52yr father of two o 5 and 7 trust me if you have children in need of a good bunk bed is the way to go,
you get what you pay for with this bed set. The wood is very soft and scratches and dents easily... especially when your kids chew on the rails like mine did. Also, one of the screws was missing from the packaging. We were able to make due with what we had on hand, but it certainly was not up to expectations. The assembly was straight forward. My girls have been in these beds for about 6 months now and theyre holding up nicely. Over all, this set is not bad for the money, but definitely could be better!

For the price, its fantastic
Adequate quality. A couple screws stripped when tightened, and not much force was used. But its sturdy and its beautiful.
This bed stinks, literally

Granddaughters love this!
The girls are now using this as separate beds which is a bonus. At this price, it cant be beat.
