This bunk bed fit well in the room. Just as advertised. We had requested expert assembly as well and it took some time. However, we had to buy an additional board to place on the top bed to ensure it doesn’t break. The material could’ve been better and sturdier for this value. I’m glad we found a solution for that instead of returning it.
So here's my Good, Bad, and Ugly review for this product. Overall, it's a decent loft bed frame. However, at this price point, I expected more.
The Good
Ordered the bed late Jan and it arrived at the end of the month. So shipping time was realistic and arrived ahead of the projected estimates. I got it in espresso, and it looks nice. Once assembled, the frame is pretty sturdy and the shake is reasonable for a loft bed. It doesn't feel like it is going to fall apart.
The Bad
Whoever packaged the product did their best to prevent damage to all of the parts. Majority of the pieces came intact and undamaged. However, I too had one piece that was cracked, and another that was badly dented. This I'd have to lay more with how the boxes were handled during shipping, than the product itself. The cracked part was easily patched and wasn't fatal. One of the boards that would serve as both a step support and shelf had a nasty dent, but this too was easy to work around by just flipping over the piece.
The Ugly
This is probably my biggest point of contention. Majority of the pieces in this build were not labelled, and then there were parts that were labelled but not properly. I spent way more time building this than I thought I would. Ikea furniture is a cakewalk compared to this build. Some parts of the instructions are pretty unclear. Given the cost of this item, I would've hoped that all of the parts were clearly and correctly labelled. Sadly, this is not the case here. The other thing I took issue with is how the stairs attach to the frame, while you have to attach the back of the stairs to its parallel back post, nothing is securing the front of the stairs. Meaning one could potentially kick or push the front of the steps and possibly crack the wood that is connecting the backboard to the post. I ended up drilling in another screw to connect the base of the stairs to the front post. I'm also considering making a middle post to place below the bottom shelf to add additional support and reduce the weight/load the bottom shelf currently faces.
Summary
As I stated, the overall end product is decent, and my child really likes it. However, at this price point, I can't really recommend it. If it were $800 less, I could forgive a lot of the issues I encountered. Sadly, this is not the case.
We love it but i wish it wasn’t as low, we wanted a low bunk bed but the bottom bed is too low, so definitely keep that in mind if you buy this bunk bed. My son could barely sit up with out his head touching the top. Other than that it’s a beautiful bed.
The bed is great, however, we had trouble with the largest piece of wood for the stairs being damaged (3attempts made to ship it/replace it) but every one of them were damaged even though it said Fragile on the box. So this will probably be my last online bed shipment. Sellers were understanding and tried to fix it, but shipping did a number on every attempt. My daughter loves the bed and we settled on the least damaged of the 3 and put it together.
After removing it from the box we noticed that there r cracks that go all the way through. A lot of dents. I’ll have to see after it’s together. But I will be using sturdier hardware.
Disappointed with the thin wood that arrived. For the price and all the reviews, I had a false sense of great durability of the product. I suppose it will last for a few years but for the price I was thinking at least 15 years and much thicker wood :-(

Nice but too low

Not sturdy
Looks really nice, but not sturdy enough. Scary to be underneath the bed while someone is in the bed. Very shakey and scary!

broken parts
I reported the broken parts and was never contacted or sent the replacement pieces, disappointed
Beware

Not as durable as it looks and hard to assemble
