I needed an efficient method of transportation due to not knowing how to drive. And I thought an e/bike would be a nice way to commute. Ive been using the EB/5 for 4 months and here are my thoughts.
It does take a bit of practice in knowing how to drive this e/bike. If your bike is on and you move the petal a tiny bit it will lurch forward and this happened several times when I had to clutch the bike and turn the power off quickly so it didnt move on its own. You really have to practice. Wish there was a petal assist off mode, because I mostly dont petal minus when I go up hills and the bike lurching forward because my leg accidentally bumped against the petal while I was waiting for the walk sign to turn on was a bit dangerous and physically restraining a bike is not a good way to start off in the morning. But anyway now I turn off my bike when Im still, lesson learned.
My commute is really rough, with lots of bumps. I had to replace my back tire after 4 months of use which was reasonable because my commute is a whole bunch of huge bumps and pot holes and sometimes there is glass on the road. Kind of shocked I didnt get a flat sooner after going through a 5/inch deep pothole. It was a bit difficult changing the tire because the wheel is so small but it was doable. For battery life, like any kind of battery, it starts draining and it gets a little bit slower. I can get a good 15 miles after one charge which is all I need for my commute and have 2/1 bars left. One thing I didnt really enjoy was the bike is kind of loud. You can hear it whirring a lot but this is my first e/bike so Im not sure if this is with all e/bikes. Also, I wished it had a key lock for the battery.
Overall I think this purchase was worth it. Ive used it very well for the past couple of months due to a summer gig. Definitely a really good purchase for people who are doing internships or going to school and need a really affordable way to commute. Do bike maintenance weekly, check your tires and dont overcharge your battery. Only used it in light rain/ drizzling / dont recommend using it in heavy rain.
This bike saved me a good a 1000 in uber fees. Really recommend getting a bike basket (best thing I have on my bike for weekly grocery shopping) and headlights for this bike too for convenience.
I have nothing but praise for this bike. Came assembled and in mint condition have traveled with it for a month now and it has been aming. I was able to purchase it with money down and monthly payments and no hidden feesI mean really you just pay what you would have only broken down over a year. Wonderful. It is the first electric cycle I have ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to but it has been an absolute joy to ride.
I dont normally write reviews but Im so happy with this bike that I just wanna help make someone elses decision easier. I spent weeks looking at bikes before I found this.
Theres so many good things to say, a couple things that need some work, but for the price it cant be beat.
For reference I am 54 160lbs
Pros:
Super easy to transport, battery life is great, and its a tank. I got this to get around easier at festivals and it does its job perfectly. Off road capabilities are good on dirt/grass / not great on large gravel. It lasted 4 days on a charge with some battery life to spare. I also wiped out on it and I really dont think this thing will break easily. My 63 235lb boyfriend rides it too, but he really dislikes the seat.
Pedaling without the electric assist is literally just pedaling a 1 speed bike. Fine on flat ground, sucks on uphill slopes. Its very easy to conserve battery with pedaling on flat land.
Cons:
Its hard to find a spare battery, the bike is pretty heavy to lift for me, the seat is also uncomfortable for long rides so Ill be replacing that asap. Also the display of battery life during the day is hard to see, you have to kinda cup your hand around it to see the lights.
Mostly minor things that are outweighed by the good.
In conclusion I think this is a fantastic purchase and I recommend it to anyone wanting to try an ebike for the first time!
bought the bike cuz I live on a sailing catamaran and weight and small size are important. The bike is super in both regard. I dont really get 15 miles from a charge, more like 12 but thats splitting hairs. My only gripe is Ive purchased 2 back/up batteries and neither will take a charge.
Im not sure what these people think gives them the right to sell this kind of product.
Almost to laughably easy to assemble, takes about 90 seconds, charging and riding is literally perfect in every way. I rode it for about two hours and the charge only went down by 20.
Just absolutely sick and twisted.
I feel this way about many products I order, especially From and Walmart.
Immoral products at Reprehensible price points.

Great product worth the money
The speed on this bicycle is really fast. The assembly was easy and the bike is light weight great product
Sick, twisted, disgusting people.

25 or 30 degree hill climb is only going to work is you pedal hard as well.
The battery would not make contact. I cut a 1/4 in thick foam block down to fit in behind the battery and then it worked fine.
