This is a fantastic bed for a New Yorker in a small apartment. My closet is literally one foot wide so having the extra storage for out of season clothing, extra bedding and luggage really saves my life. You could put those things under a normal bed in a normal bedroom, but this completely prevents having to lug out under bed bins and also not having tons of space on either side to do so.
The depth is about a foot. I do have one very large suitcase that won't fit underneath, but all my carry on luggage fits below. I have four large rolling underbed storage boxes inside, two carry on sized suitcases (filled with other travel paraphernalia and duffes, tote bags etc, my laptop bag, extra towels, 3 sheets sets with pillowcases and random small items that I just don't need to have out but cant part with.
I'm 5'6 and have no issues lifting the bed up to access the storage or putting it back down, although I do have to reach and give a hard push down. It might be difficult for someone very short or without a lot of strength. There is a pull strap at the foot of the frame to assist with this if you can't reach the top but I feel like it's a lot harder to pull down that way.
Assembly was not super easy. We made a few missteps and had to retrace our steps to get it right. I'm probably not going to enjoy moving this when the time comes either, but that's not in the near future and since I got the full size, I would imagine I might be able to move it intact.
There is a gridlike support base inside of the storage area - so the bed isn't open to the floor. You would have to be careful to put smaller heavier objects onto the support base and not in the space in between, though there is a thin fabric covered liner that goes on top of the base... it just didn't feel incredibly strong to me.
I am using this with a memory foam mattress and no box spring. I understand that this bed can be used with both, but personally, I think it would look weird and cover up a large portion of the headboard. There is a full sprung wood base that's part of the bed, so I think most mattresses could be used on this without a box spring. My memory foam seemed much more comfortable and seemed to have more give after taking it off of the old box spring I was using previously.
I paid around $275 for this bed on . It's the same bed you can find on Ostock although it's listed as a different manufacturer on their website. When I was shopping around for a new bed, they had it listed for almost $100 more on their website.
One caveat - I was missing pieces important for Step 2 when I initially received the bed. However, had the parts sent out to me fairly quickly, but required a lot of documentation to get them. Still. Worth it. I love this bed.
I really love this bed - its very sturdy and comfortable and the full storage area under the bed is unbeatable. I did get the professional installment option with this and would highly recommend it to make it easier as it took him nearly 2 hours to put it together.
At first the lift may seem hard to handle, but after a few pulls it befomes easier. Love the color, took awhile to place together though worth the work. Amazing amount of hidden storage for things you may not use often.
its a good bed, just took me to long to finally enjoy it, because some of the pieces were missing and i had to make a claim and request it. it took almost a month to get here, only that part was very disappointed. the bed is nice. i only had it for a week now.
Bed frame is of good quality, although it is definitely a 2-person (at least!) assembling job. The inner board on the bottom could've been thicker and wished they had this in beige.
the bed is beautiful and very sturdy and easy instruction however the shipping was late and also the gas lift stucked ! contacted the and they reply , they will send the replacement but ofcourse it back order.. was very excited about the gas lift and storage . but i guess with heavy 12 inches memory matress i have to pull up manually.
Edited post: So originally we thought this was a nice bed. It had arrived on time and was easy to put together with 2 people. We have since run into some major issues. The slats underneath keep breaking even though we have been careful not to over stress them. Also, the main support bar keeps bending and has a large crack in it now. Its ruined our $900 mattress because it's not supporting it the way it is supposed to. And I will add, my husband and I are not large people by any means, so there is no reason for it to be buckling as bad as it is. Overall appearance is nice though and we do appreciate the extra storage. It would probably be fine for a guest room if it's not used often.
This was not difficult to put together. Yes, it does take a bit of time and we found the assembly pointers in other reviews to be helpful.
It is easy to lift and close, too. It is sturdy and well-made and we are very pleased with it.
The bed itself is 5 stars. For less than $300, it looks like it could be $1,000 (could easily be CB2). It's modern, luxe, and functional - the top part of the bed opens easily and the extra storage is a clutter-saver. Highly recommend the bed.
That said, the process of getting the bed delivered properly was inconvenient. The first delivery did not include all required parts and it was more difficult than one would expect for them to send the right parts (multiple failed attempts by before delivered an entirely new bed). Throughout this, maintained an excellent level of customer service, assisting me and even issuing a refund after - the right solution in this situation.
I'm happy to say it was worth the wait!

We got this for our daughter's bedroom. She loved it. The storage area is a great place for her extra blankets.
