The trundle bed is amazing. Quality and size is better than I expected. I took the advice of others who commented and not with the twin xl mattress for the top and got the suggested one. Its awesome as a couch and substantial for a bed. Both beds. Our grandkids LOVE it!
Love this bed. It was super easy to put together and looks great. I pull out the trundle at night and this is where the dogs sleep. I bought a XL twin for the top mattress to eliminate big gaps on the ends. The top mattress can be as thick as you like. I bought a regular twin mattress for the trundle. The trundle mattress should be relatively thin so the trundle pushes in easily. These are the two mattresses I purchased. I had to buy a foam topper for the XL as it felt uncomfortable for me without it.
We needed a bed to replace a pack and play that our granddaughter was sleeping in the night each week that she spends with us. The bed arrived in several large cartons and I was a little concerned about the assembly. But my husband put it together when I was at work, and he said it was easy to do. The bed looks so cute and I wish I had a picture of my granddaughters face when she first saw it. She just loves it and though I assumed she would want to sleep in the trundle portion (because its closer to the floor) she mostly sleeps in the top -- but loves moving from one to the other, so mostly the trundle is pulled out. Over all the quality is great. Its sturdy, the finish is very pretty and the trundle (though heavy/sturdy/solid) slides in and out smoothly.
This is a very nice piece of furniture. The directions were very good for assembling . Two very old people in their 80s put it together and it functions quite well. If there was just a little more room for the trundle, it would make it easier because with the mattress in place, it is a hard push to put the bed under the top bed; maybe I should have bought a different mattress for the bottom, but I took the advice of the ad.
I was impressed at how well this bed went together, and at the sturdiness of the rails and slats that came with it. This, to me, is a great bed for this price. It is higher quality than I even expected.
