I used a 8 inch mattress for the top and ten inch for the bottom as another post suggested and it works really well.
This is a great piece. Bought it for the basement family room and it fits perfectly down there. These bunk beds are beautiful in person. They are made of solid wood and are very sturdy. They werent too bad to put together. It took my husband and I a few hours to assemble them but just make sure to read the directions carefully, we had few hiccups because we didnt pay close attention to some of the steps. Really nice bunk beds for the price! The grey color is a nice modern color.
Very easy to assemble, my son and I love it! Fits perfect in our little room! This is a well-made, solid wood bunk bed. The finish is consistent and lovely. The bed does not creak, and has more than ample reinforcements to stand up to my three sons (unlike bunks we have bought in the past). The guard rails are strong and not wobbly. I have an eight inch mattress on top, and a ten inch on the bottom. They both fit with no issue. It was delivered exactly when specified, and was carried into my home in thee manageable boxes. Worth every single penny.
Perfect for a small apartment space. Overall I was very pleased with the quality of the bed. All solid wood with a very smooth finish. It was easy to assemble and took about 4 hours with only one person doing most of the assembly. My only complaint is the ladder does not have a good way for smaller hands to grasp on. My 3 year old who is quite petite has a hard time climbing up and down. And since the finish is very smooth the rungs of the ladder are quite slick. Im going to add some grip tape for traction. One other note is to measure the heights of the twin mattress you are using against the height of the side rails for the top bunk. Our mattress is quite thick so there is only about 4-5 inches of the rail exposed to prevent a child from rolling off.
Overall a good bed for the price.
