This item is amazing we camped and it stormed the first night everything inside the tent was dry not a drop of water the windows have there own lil lifts so u can have the windows down and not get wet at all 5 stars right hear
Ill begin with one minor annoyance, but it does sometimes feel like a dealbreaker. The zippers to the front porch begin on the floor instead of the ceiling. So if you camp anywhere where there are creepy crawlies (ants, red bugs, ticks, etc.), theyll make their way inside. There is no way to fully close the 3 zippers that meet there in the middle. And theres just something physically awkward about it that makes a quick escape a little difficult.
And if you need to be able to run power or any kind of hose (for a tent heater, etc.) into the tent, there are no small corner openings. Just in case you wondered... You have to run everything through the center front opening on the porch and then through the front door. This might explain why they began their porch zipper on the floor, but it wouldve been much nicer to have at least one small corner opening inside the tent in trade for that floor zipper.
And now, to my biggest complaint:
I live in Alabama where the weather cant decide which season it is from one day to the next (especially in the fall and spring). We are in the 30s, then the 80s in the span of 2 days. So when I saw that it was 3-season and had the words Keeps you dry... Guaranteed on the outside, I wanted it. The screened porch was an added bonus. My other reason for wanting this tent was the brand. My old tent lasted 13 or 14 years (of frequent use) before seeing its first leak. This one, with the factory rain fly, saw more than just a leak after one single use.
The major issue here is the completely exposed back wall of the tent. If you camp in the heat, you will need to go completely without the rainfly (instead of having the convenience of a back window flap to open and close from the inside), which means you cant take the tent anywhere public or where you might need privacy.
Not only that, but the factory rainfly doesnt fully cover the back or the front of the tent. If it does rain, the porch will be soaked and (if there is any wind at all), the inside will be, too, after water sneaks under and through the back window very easily.
In the pictures Ive included with this review, you can see that I am using a different rainfly. This one is capable of protecting the inside of the tent from rain, although I have mine set up for a mild rain/sprinkle. It is able to be repositioned in a number of different ways and can fully cover the back (top and sides, too) if hung differently, using different guyline brackets. Also, in those photos, Im camping on private property, so no dire need for privacy.
Suffice it to say, both the exposed back side and the rainfly are the biggest design flaws with the entire tent.
Unfortunately, for me, I took too long to get around to using the tent for the first time (always test your products before the one-year factory warranty expires)! I tested mine too close to the warranty expiration date and then proceeded to procrastinate filing any kind of claim. Customer support was good. They offered an exchange for another tent. But I struggled too long in making my decision on which tent to swap with, so I am stuck with this one until I research other tents (including other brands) and purchase one that better suits my needs.
I am giving this tent 3 stars (instead of 1) because of the customer service, the size, the ease of setting it up and breaking it down, and the porch.
I really like this tent. Its does a great job, except for one thing. The back window has no flap to zip shut so, in freezing temperatures when the wind is blowing we got ice cold heavy drafts all night long. For moderate to warm weather this is an excellent tent. In freezing temps find a different tent. Still, a great tent for what most people do. I will definitely keep it and buy another tent for cold weather.
The screened in area is perfect for big free camping, the inside is tall enough for an average person to stand, the tent is light, and easy to set up. Great airflow with windows opened.
Bought this for a trip in the woods of Arkansas. Simple set up, just 3 poles and 1 more for the rain flap. Kept us warm with sleeping bags in a windy 30 degrees. Best part is that severe thunderstorms rolled in dumping rain for hours with 40mph winds. The ground around us was flooded but we were bone dry inside. The screen room was a swimming pool but it has a high lift at the door so it never seeped into the sleeping area. We did use stronger stakes to keep it down. I was hesitant due to people saying it leaks but we didnt have a single drop inside the tent.
We really like this tent. The 6 person is advertised to hold 2 queen sized air mattresses and there is no way it does. Luckily we ordered it for 3 of us and our child is happy sleeping in a sleeping bag
I would like to start by giving a compliment on how the company stitched the instructions to the inside of the tent bag so that we dont lose the instructions. That was genius and I appreciate it. The instructions themselves were great as well. Plenty of pictures and once you study it, its easy to understand.
-Tent setup. This was my first time ever putting up a tent and setup was still fairly easy. The instructions tell you to set it up with 2 people. I definitely advise it (easier and faster) but I was still able to do it all by myself in under an hour. I put a tarp on the ground first to prevent any potential floor damage (as recommended for every tent). I love the ease and the strength of the tent poles. They locked into place almost without any effort at all. It was also really easy to fold back when I was finished. I will agree with quite a bit of the reviews and strongly recommend grabbing different stakes. As with all tents, the stakes are skinny and weak. Thankfully, stakes are inexpensive. I purchased a 6 pack of the 9 inch tent pegs for just $4.99 on and they were incredibly strong.
-Screen Porch. It really does keep bugs out!!!! My kids and I actually watched several bugs (big and small) try to come in. This alone earns some serious cool points from me because while I love nature, I am not a fan of bugs. The screen porch is easy to enter and there is plenty of space. I love the idea and I plan to put chairs and maybe a little table in there.
-Tent interior. I love it! Its spacious and due to the mesh windows, very well ventilated. I love that the windows can be zipped closed if you want privacy. Both the mesh windows and the mesh walls remained bug proof (the bugs certainly tried). Its tall enough to stand in the center and there is a great view of the sky without the rainfly.
-I have not yet tested it in the rain or officially installed the rainfly as it is a bit hot today and perfectly sunny. But I will update this review when I do.
-Cons.
The mesh wall is a popular complaint in the reviews. I think the wall is great because it provides nice ventilation but without the rainfly on, you lose a whole lot of privacy. So if privacy is something you value, do not use this in the summer months. Perfect for spring and fall weather though.
Besides that though, this tent rocks! My husband (who has absolutely refused the notion of camping) was even impressed.

No protection from the elements

Not for winter camping.

Great tent for the price, awesome design

No regrets!

Awesome tent, just not the size advertised
