This bed is a phenomenal find. I would never and could never pay over $3,000 for the look-alike on restoration hardware. We still have my daughter's twin mattress in there. There is just extra space for more stuffed animals.
The product was shipped quickly. It arrived in 3 large well padded boxes and was pretty easy to put together. The quality was better than I was expecting and it looks great. The downside is that it has a strong chemical smell. I let it off gas for about a week with no improvement in the smell. I wiped it down with Pine-Sol with no improvement. I then heated up the room for another week to hopefully speed up the off gassing process, however it still has a strong chemical smell. I don't like to spend more than 5 minutes in the room and there is no way I would let my kid sleep in it. I am sure that eventually the smell will go away, but after 14 days it is still strong. I am not the typical person that you would expect to write this review, just a normal Dad. I tried to contact Acme customer service but apparently they don't have one, just a spare parts department.
Update. It has been 6 weeks now and the smell is about 90% gone. Luckily I am not on a time frame and I am not in a rush to move my kid into his new room. I wouldn't buy this bed unless you can air is out for an extended period of time.
we LOVE this bed for our Grandchildrens playroom!! We were surprised how well built it is and structurally sound! It is very heavy so we paid extra to have them deliver it to the actual room. We also added a plywood floor and carpet so the children could play in it without mattress!! They all love it and so does this GIGI! Even PAPA gets in it with the kids!!
Assembly was easier than anticipated, but it is a 2 person job due to the large pieces being rather heavy. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that one of side panel boards was cracked and I'm confident this didn't occur during shipping, so it must have been shipped this way. The crack is just an aesthetic flaw and given the rustic appearance of this bed, it sort of blends in and is not a huge deal. However, it still annoys me that they shipped a damaged bed, so definitely inspect upon delivery.
Glad we chose this bed for our son. We love it. Easy to assemble.very sturdy.However it took v long for the shipping. But worth the price and the wait.
