This product is ok but I have to do modification to it. I should have to. I am waiting for replacement parts. Screws came strips and who ever made it needs to get fired for lack of attention to detail. I spend $205 on this bed and thats not cheap so getting what you paid does not go here. I expected better from which is a good company. UNSAT to your builders.
The reviews are spot-on. The only recommendation is MAKE SURE when you begin the assembly, to place the sides of the bed where THE LADDER goes on the correct (out) side...otherwise, youll just about be done (the ladder is the last part) and youll realize you put the sides together inside out. Otherwise, BEST BUNK BED EVER.
First of all, I rated this product a solid 5...if I could have given a rating of 10, I would have! The price is great, and the bed is very easy to assemble. My husband did the majority of the assembly by himself. Color is true to picture...great dark color. The allen wrench tool is a little hard on the fingers so if you have your own allen wrench, we would recommend using your own. Once the bed is put together, it is VERY sturdy. It does not wobble or shake. One thing we noticed was the placement of the screw holes in the bottom bunk as it relates to the ladder. We followed the instructions, but didnt realize that we had the bottom bunk turned around until after we had affixed the ladder to the top bunk. This turned out to be an easy fix, but I would recommend anyone else ensure the holes are in proper placement prior to affixing the ladder.
My daughters love this. I did not realize when I bought it how low the clearance under the top bunk would be. There is less height there than in other bunkbeds we have had. The girls dont mind, but it is a little more difficult for my husband and I when putting our daughter to bed. However, it probably would not be too much of an issue if we did not have to have a baby rail there. Also, I would not suggest it for big kids(teens). My daughters are 2 and 4.
First off, the item shipped very quickly and we were very excited to get it put together. Went fairly quickly, except we were missing 1 of the hardware pieces. Also, the finish really had a strong smell (we have had it for 2 weeks, and it has disappeared now). The bed was a great price, looks very nice, and seems to be pretty sturdy. My only main complaint, the side board finish has already started chipping off!! I called Storkcraft and they very easily are sending a new sideboard, although Im concerned how it will hold up over time. But so far, it is worth the money.
Our 4-year-old loves her bed! The top bunk isnt too high, which is a plus. She sleeps on the bottom bunk and her toys sleep on the top bunk. My dad assembled the bed within the two hour time frame. It arrived via FedEx in two separate boxes. All the parts and pieces were there...and clearly labeled. Its perfect for a kids room! Theres plenty of room under the bottom bunk to store toys and/or baskets.
My husband and I found these beds fairly simple to assemble; the boards are all clearly labeled, the hardware comes in clearly marked, easy/open packages, and an Allen/key is included/ though, I would recommend having a power drill available for the Phillips/head screws. With "help" from our two/ and four/year/old children we got these put together in about two hours. As some other reviewers have noted, there is a little back/tracking necessary in the assembly, specifically, removing some of the mattress supports for installation of the ladder. We also skipped ahead to the ladder before putting on the middle safety rail support on the ladder side, because the holes for the support arent pre/drilled. If youre slightly mechanically inclined, you should have no problem.
The packaging indicates these beds are for children six years or older, but my 2/y.o. daughter and 4/y.o. son are quite adept at climbing into the bottom bunk and up the ladder to the top. I dont see any mention of this age restriction in the listing, but its moot to us, as our kids are always up for a challenge.
The finish is a fairly dark brown, which I like, and the pieces fit together well, with no unfinished edges visible. As noted in the title, when assembled as bunk beds or free standing, they are quite sturdy. I can stand on the footboard slats and reach into the top bunk without a wiggle from the frame.
All/in/all, I would definitely recommend these beds to anyone looking for bunk/beds.
I bought this for my 5 year old daughter after her old bed broke. She will be sharing a room when my youngest moves out of her crib. It is the perfect height for her, tall enough to be fun, but not so tall that its scary, and she has plenty of headroom to sit up and crawl around. An 8 inch mattress fit well with plenty of room to tuck in bedding and still have enough height on the top bunk railings.
The bed is very solid for this price point, and looks nice. It ships in two separate large boxes, is heavy, and takes up a good bit of room when unassembled. It took us about 4 hours to assemble, as some of the pieces were mislabeled and we mixed up pieces from the top and bottom beds. I would recommend laying them out prior to assembly and checking the labeling so you dont have to take it apart to re-assemble. Some of the screw holes werent drilled correctly and we had to re-drill them.
Overall its a great bed for the price. The problems were minor, and easily fixed.
Edited to add:
We separated the beds this July because the ladder was starting to pull out of the beds after 3 1/2 years of being played on by my two kids and their friends.
The beds were both in good condition until a couple weeks ago. My 9 yo and two of her friends were jumping on her bed and broke the frame.
We got our moneys worth. We knew they werent going to hold up like solid wood beds, but it we were looking at $800-$1500 for those.
This bed arrived today. It took me an easy 2 hours to assemble. I used a cordless drill to speed up the process. It was very, very simple to assemble. Probably the easiest piece of furniture i have ever assembled. You will need at least a philips screw driver, but a cordless drill made it effortless. The directions were clear.
There was no damage do to shipping. The finish to the bed is very pleasing. It is 100% real wood. No fiber board or plywood.
The box is long and heavy, as should be expected. I carried it by myself, but it is really a two person job.
It is very sturdy. It should last for years and years of use. Like all wood furniture, Im sure if it is abused it will break.
The ladder is a little slick due to the beds nice finnish.I will be adding some gripping tape to it.
I could not be more pleased. A similar bed in a furniture store would cost twice as much.
Santa got this for my 3yr old and 6yr old little girls! They just love it. It is very sturdy, no chips, came perfect! I couldnt be more happier with the purchase. It is shorter than the average bunk bed but works great in a smaller bedroom.
