After buying a lot of furniture over the years from Ikea and not being impressed with the longevity of Ikea products, I decided to try this one. What a world of difference heavy solid wood can do! This is quite a sturdy and stable bunk bed. The customer service was very prompt and shipped me two parts. First was a side board that was presumably damaged during shipping. The second time was when a slat was broken at a worl. The slats are made of light wood and dont look very strong, and it most certainly wouldnt withstand kids jumping on it. I have it in a bunk/bed configuration, so there is very little headroom for kids to jump on this bed. When the kids are older, I plan to revert it to a side/by/side configuration and hopefully by then the kids wont be so inclined to jump on their beds. I have put two spring mattresses directly on the slats. This is a good buy. I personally prefer steel beds as they are strong, safe and durable. But, this appears to be one that should last until the kids leave home.
Nice, reasonably priced bunk beds that were fairly easy to assemble. The height of the bed combo is a bit shorter, so is a safer for little ones. This was a gift for my 5 year old granddaughter, and she loves the set. It would be nice if the ladder could be removed (it is permanently attached.)
Bought this as an extra bunk bed to have at a ski condo. We just put this bed together and it took my wife and myself about 1.5 hours to do so. I used a cordless drill with the correct bit. Doing so will save you a ton of time vs using the allen wrench provided. It comes in a single box that is very heavy (guessing 180+ pounds), so make sure you have two able bodied people to move it. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is due to the supporting slats for the mattresses. They are too far apart and anyone over 100 pounds will cause them to sag and the mattress to push through. Specs say it will hold someone up to 250 lbs but I wouldnt trust that. I am going to add extra half inch x 6 inch pine boards to make a better platform for the mattress and make me feel better about someone heavy getting on the beds. Other than that it seems like a great deal. Went together without a hitch, the all the hardware is solid and holes all lined up. We are thinking about getting another one due to the great price and free shipping with Prime.
I would probably give this bed 4 1/2 stars if I could. But its definitely closer to 5 than to 4!
I love this bed. I have been considering and looking for several months for beds for my 3/ and 5/year/olds when it occurred to me that we could just buy a bunk bed and use it as two beds! Then, if we decide to turn it into a bunk bed later, we can. I wanted a bed that was sturdy, but not too expensive, and that would match the nightstand in their room. After reading a lot of reviews on other beds, we decided to go with this one.
The bed arrived quickly because we live in Utah (it shipped from Salt Lake) and arrived in a day. The box was HEAVY, but my husband brought it in with a dolly.
My husband assembled it without any trouble. My girls were able to help him and he was able to get both beds done in two evenings (after work and before kiddos go to bed). He didnt have any major issues and it was helpful that he had good power tools to help move the project along more quickly. He did have to finish assembling it in the girls room because their doorway wasnt quite wide enough to bring the assembled single beds in.
I have two small complaints, and I read other people mention these as well. #1, it DID smell a little bit like varnish. We put an air purifier in their room, though, and it took care of the smell in about 3 days. Airing out the room would probably have worked, too (but it was too smoky outside to open windows). #2, the slats WERE a little far apart. Id suggest either a bunkie board, a piece of plywood, or having a couple more slats made to go in the bed. We chose the later and with the two extra slats, they were spaced about 6 inches apart.
I loooooove the storage space under the beds! I can put boxes under there for stuffed animals or clothes, AND my girls can fit under there without getting stuck (yeah, I gave up on trying to keep my kids from hiding under the bed). Theres probably 15 or 16 inches of space. Its really great. And again, I love that the bed is sturdy. And its really beautiful. The color is between the espresso (the color we ordered) and cherry, so it ended up perfect for us.
For $160 per bed vs. $500 per bed at the store, this was definitely a big win for us. Love it love it!
Shipping from came very quick. The bunk bed came in one long box, and wasnt as big as I thought it would be. All the parts were there. Just be careful not to lose a screw, or bolt because you get the exact amount of hardware that is needed to complete the project. It was very easy to build using the instructions given. One person can put this together except for putting the top bunk on the bottom bunk. That will require two people. It will also require a power drill to drill the screws in the slat boards to the actual bunks. Other than that nothing else is needed as it comes with all the tools and hardware needed. My kids love it very much. Wood did not have bad fumes to it at all. I read a review that it did so I opened it up to air out and it just smelled like wood. Great product and came as advertised and this was one of the only beds that nothing negative was said about it.
Its a decent bed, for the price.
There are a couple notations missed in the instructions that can cause you to read to re/do a few steps. Be careful.
The wood is fairly soft and scratches/dents easily.
The bed is great and got here in good time. Some of the parts arent labeled so we had to be very careful about putting it together. Overall Im happy with it. No complaints.
Love it, it wasnt to hard to put together, took me most of Saturday but it was pretty simple to do. The kids absolutley love it and I liked the way the dark finished look.
For a bunk bed set this affordable I was anticipating the possibility of shoddy materials but this is a very handsome and sturdy bunk bed! Our kids LOVE it and our eldest now spends more time in the twins room because its so fun for forts and playtime. The assembly (4 hrs is a good estimate) is pretty straightforward if you follow the instructions closely. (Our kit had the minimum of labeling but deductive reasoning made assembly fine - e.g. if A1 was labeled then I always knew the other unlabeled piece must be A2, etc.)
Also, our twins bedroom ceiling is lower than most, so this was a good choice (this is a lower set than standard, so watch your measurements) - still ample room, for kids especially. I like it so much I am considering buying another one for a family summer cottage because it seems like it would last many years of use and adds bed space.

Nice beds for younger children

Nice Bunks
Easy to put together, very sturdy, and looks great! The kids love their new beds and could not be happier.
Bought to use as two separate beds / sturdy and beautiful!
